Maroon 5 is giving fans the chance to honor their loved ones on the road this fall.
The band announced on social media that as part of their Love Is Like Tour, fans can submit photos of people they miss to be featured on screen during the group’s performance of “Memories.” The tour will visit 23 U.S. cities and launch Oct. 6 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Maroon 5 Invites Fans to Honor Loved Ones on Upcoming Tour
In an Instagram Reel, frontman Adam Levine explained the heartfelt initiative. “Hey guys, we’re doing something super, super cool on this tour,” he said. “We’re going to put your pictures of anybody that you miss, that you’ve lost, when we play ‘Memories.’”
The former “The Voice” coach added, “We all have someone that we miss that isn’t here anymore, and so we want to help remember them. Send a picture of them, and we’re going to try to get them all up on the big screen for the performance of ‘Memories.’”
He closed the message with gratitude for fans: “This is a really special moment, we cannot wait to share it with you guys. It’ll be super, super special. We love you guys.”
Adam Levine on the Inspiration for “Memories”
“Memories,” released in 2021 on the band’s album “Jordi,” is a song rooted in grief and remembrance. Levine has said the ballad was inspired by the loss of Maroon 5’s longtime manager Jordan Feldstein, who passed away in 2017 at age 40. Feldstein, the brother of actors Jonah Hill and Beanie Feldstein, had been with the band since its inception.
Speaking on “The Howard Stern Show,” Levine explained, “I loved him like a brother. I needed this song.” He continued, “In a world that is increasingly chaotic and crazy and angry in a lot of ways, rather than fight about things, it’s nice to have common ground and all of us have had loss.”
The Love Is Like Tour supports Maroon 5’s eighth studio album of the same name, released Aug. 15. The upcoming tour promises a mix of fan favorites and new material, with rising pop singer-songwriter Claire Rosenkranz set to open every show.
By blending new tracks with timeless favorites, and adding the “Memories” tribute, Maroon 5’s Love Is Like Tour promises to be a moving experience. As the band travels from Phoenix to cities nationwide, fans can expect nights filled with both celebration and remembrance.
