Former “Voice” coach Miley Cyrus surprised fans this weekend when she appeared to step back into her Hannah Montana era while filming along the Malibu coast.

Cyrus Was Spotted Filming

The star was spotted working with a camera crew while wearing the character’s trademark blonde wig and oversized shades, instantly bringing back memories of the Disney Channel phenomenon that helped launch her career, according to TMZ.

Adding to the nostalgia, Cyrus was seen driving a classic black Ford Mustang convertible reminiscent of the car her character often used in the original series.

The vehicle became a visual shorthand for Hannah’s glamorous alter ego and carefree Malibu lifestyle, so its return has fans convinced the shoot wasn’t just for fun.

Production trucks and crew members were also visible on set, suggesting a professionally organized project rather than a casual throwback moment.

The sighting quickly sparked speculation online that Cyrus is recreating familiar scenes for a planned anniversary project tied to the beloved show.

The styling, the setting and the unmistakable car all hint that the production is intentionally echoing moments longtime viewers remember from the early seasons.

What We Know

Reports from Variety confirm that Cyrus has signed on for a special celebrating two decades since Hannah Montana first debuted.

The project is expected to premiere on Disney+ later this year and will look back on the show’s impact on pop culture and on Cyrus’ own life.

The original series ran from 2006 to 2011 and followed Miley Stewart, a teenager balancing school life with her secret identity as a pop superstar.

The show’s success led to chart-topping albums, sold-out tours and a feature film, cementing Cyrus as one of Disney Channel’s biggest breakout stars.

According to details shared about the upcoming special, it will be hosted by Alex Cooper and filmed before a live audience.

The program is expected to include interviews, archival footage and recreations of memorable moments from the series.

Cyrus has said that the show will always be part of who she is, noting that the connection she built with viewers over the years still means a great deal to her.

The anniversary project is intended as a celebration of that shared history — and as a thank-you to fans who grew up alongside Hannah’s “best of both worlds.”

While Disney hasn’t revealed every detail yet, Cyrus’ Malibu filming has already done its job: reminding audiences how deeply the character still resonates — and why the return of Hannah Montana, even briefly, feels like a pop culture event.
