Jana Duggar Wissmann Reacts to Joseph Duggar Situation in Emotional Statement

Jana Duggar Wissmann began starring on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” when she was 18 years old. The reality star also appeared on the spinoff series, “Counting On,” until its cancellation in 2020.

Despite being the second child and first daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children, Jana was the last of the older Duggar siblings to get married. Jana watched her twin brother, John-David Duggar, and nine of her younger siblings get married before she did.

Jana’s decision to wait until she was 34 years old to get married is atypical in the conservative Christian culture she was raised in. However, the former reality star has largely remained aligned with the traditions of her upbringing and continues to share her faith with fans.

In her recently released statement, Jana Duggar Wissmann made it clear where she stands regarding the situation involving her younger brother, Joseph Duggar. Here’s what she had to say.

Jana Duggar Wissmann Speaks Out on Joseph Duggar Situation

News of the situation involving Joseph Duggar first broke on March 18, 2026, but Jana Duggar Wissmann waited until the evening of April 2, 2026, to break her silence. The 36-year-old took to social media to address the situation involving her younger brother.

In a joint statement with her husband, Stephen Wissmann, the Duggar daughter posted her emotional message to her Instagram Stories, sharing with fans, “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the situation involving my brother, Joseph.”

She continued, “This news came as a shock to us, as we had no prior knowledge before it became public.”

The former reality star made it clear where she stands with her final comments, writing, “Our hearts are with the child who has been harmed—this is a grievous and unacceptable wrong. We continue to pray for the victim and for justice to be carried out.”

Jessa Duggar Seewald Also Posted a New Statement on the Situation

Another one of Joseph’s sisters, Jessa Duggar Seewald, took to social media on April 2, 2026, to share her thoughts on the situation.

However, as reported by Us Weekly, Jessa had originally posted a joint statement with her husband, Ben Seewald, to her Instagram Stories on March 20, 2026.

In her original statement, the mother of six wrote, “We learned of this saddening news along with the rest of the world on Wednesday, and we are in complete shock.”

She continued, “Our hearts are grieving for this innocent young girl, and we know this is deeply grievous to God, who cares tenderly for children and the vulnerable. We are keeping her in our prayers. As a family, we are pulling together to support Kendra and her kids during this difficult time.”

This original statement remained up for a few hours before Jessa deleted it from Instagram. The timing of the deletion came around the same time reports surfaced that Kendra Duggar had been booked in Washington County, Arkansas, on suspicion of child endangerment. Joseph and Kendra Duggar share four children: Garrett, Addison, Brooklyn, and Justus.

In her newest statement, Jessa does not reference her sister-in-law, Kendra Duggar, at all. Instead, she shared with fans, “We learned, along with the rest of the world, of the heartbreaking news involving my brother, Joseph, and we are deeply grieved.”

She added, “Our hearts ache for this innocent young girl and the harm she has suffered. This is a profound wrong, and we know it grieves the heart of God, who cares deeply for children and the vulnerable.”

Jessa closed her statement by emphasizing support for the victim, writing, “We are lifting her up in prayer, asking for comfort, healing, and justice.”

Jana and Jessa Aren’t the Only Duggar Siblings to Speak Out

Along with Jana and Jessa, several of Joseph Duggar’s other siblings have spoken out following his arrest, including Jill Duggar Dillard, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth, and Jason Duggar.

In a joint statement with her husband, Derick Dillard, Jill posted on their family website, writing, “We strongly condemn abuse. We support the rule of law and hope that justice will be achieved. We pray God gives her strength, comfort, and hope, and that she is able to get all the help and support she needs and deserves in the days ahead.”

Jinger Vuolo Duggar addressed the situation with her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, on their podcast,  “The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast.” Jinger told listeners, “It’s been such a long week. It’s been one of those weeks that feels like years, and I did not think that my heart could break like it has this week. The pain and heartbreak that we’ve had over this, and just thinking of how it’s affected so many. Yeah. It’s just unthinkable.”

Like Jana and Jessa, Joy-Anna also took to Instagram Stories to give her statement, sharing with fans, “What has come out about my brother is heartbreaking and deeply disturbing. I have been a wreck this week and am taking time to process. I have a few pre-filmed commitments that I have to post, but I will be taking some much-needed time with my family. Thank you for your prayers.”

Jason Duggar Took the Boldest Stance Against His Brother

Joseph’s younger brother, Jason Duggar, had the most to say after finding out about his brother’s charges. In a joint statement with his wife, Maddie Duggar, the 25-year-old wrote, “We, like many, have spent the week completely shocked, confused, and grieved to list a few emotions. We are disgusted to hear the news about my brother; however, this isn’t about how it’s impacted our lives.”

The Duggar brother continued his statement, making clear to the public that he stands in solidarity with the victim, adding, “We are angered by what has happened, and we pray God’s righteous hand and the court system will serve justice in the situation as deserved. Maddie and I have always had a special place in our hearts for the vulnerable around us, and we will continue to do so.”

Jason also encouraged fans to pray for Joseph and Kendra’s four children during this difficult time, writing, “We also ask that you pray for his family at this time, as his children must face the reality of losing a father that should have been a spiritual leader in their lives. We stand with innocent children. Always.”

While each sibling addressed the situation in their own way, the message has remained consistent: support for the victim and a call for justice. As the Joseph Duggar situation continues to unfold, more reactions from the Duggar family could follow in the weeks ahead.
