Leon Brown spent much of their childhood in the public eye as part of the Brown family featured on TLC’s long-running reality series “Sister Wives.” As the only child of Kody Brown and his first wife, Meri Brown, Leon grew up alongside Kody’s 17 other children while cameras documented the family’s polygamist lifestyle for millions of viewers.
Now, years after stepping away from reality television, Leon is opening up about their own experiences. The former “Sister Wives” star recently took to social media to reveal that they are finally ready to begin sharing what it was really like growing up on television and inside the Brown family’s unique world. Read on to discover what Leon Brown shared with fans.
Leon Brown Says They Are Ready to Share Their Story
Kody and Meri Brown’s only child started out their TikTok video, stating, “Hi, my name is Leon. I use they/them pronouns. If you don’t know who I am, which would be really cool, I was raised on TV.”
Leon continued, “I grew up in a cult, a polygamist cult. And when I was 14, my parents started filming a TV show, on a very popular network.”
The former reality star continued by saying, “Yeah, I don’t know. I haven’t really ever talked about my own story publicly before, and that feels increasingly inauthentic.”
Leon then acknowledged that they are finally ready to address more about what it was really like growing up behind the scenes of “Sister Wives,” sharing, “I think it’s time that I start talking about it.”
Leon Explains Why They Are Speaking Out Now
As a writer themself, Leon added, “I love stories. I’m a storyteller. I’m a story listener. Stories really enrich my life and have helped me really find parts of myself that I need. And I think it’s probably time I start sharing my own story.”
Leon went on to explain that, for years, they felt as though their story had been told by others rather than by themselves.
“It’s been told for me. I haven’t felt like I could share. And I think that more just had to do with being ready,” Leon said.
They concluded by explaining that they have made the decision to finally tell their story in hopes that it may help others.
“But ready is a decision and I’m making a decision to start sharing my story because, eff, I don’t know. I hope it helps someone.”

More fans praised Leon for embracing their authentic self despite growing up in the public eye. One supporter wrote, “My favorite part of your story and watching from the outside…is you being brave enough to be your authentic self even with the pressures of being on television and being raised in an extremely oppressive family structure. You should be so very proud of yourself.”
Leon’s sister, Mykelti Brown Padron, also showed her support in the comments, writing, “Hell yeah!!! Love you! Proud of you. I’m here for your authentic truth!!”
Although Leon stopped short of sharing specific behind-the-scenes details in the video, they made it clear that they are ready to begin telling their story on their own terms.
