The daughter of “Sister Wives” stars Kody Brown and Christine Brown Woolley, Mykelti Brown Padron, recently sat down for a podcast interview with Shelise Ann Sola on “Cults to Consciousness.”
As the fifth out of Kody Brown’s 18 children, Mykelti brought a unique perspective on growing up in a polygamist household to the conversation. The duo talked about a variety of topics, including the idea of Mykelti taking a second husband. Read on to discover what the “Sister Wives” star had to say.
Mykelti Brown Padron Discusses The Idea of a Second Husband
During the interview on “Cults to Consciousness,” Shelise posed the question, “If you feel like multiple partners is a positive thing because of the built-in community and because of the bigger family, how would you feel about a second husband?”
Mykelti was very clear in her response, stating, “I honestly actually would not enjoy a second husband.”
She added, “I don’t want to be crass, but like there are some benefits to a second husband, obviously, but dealing with multiple Tonys, who is my husband, sounds like an absolute nightmare.”
Mykelti also shared that while she sees the benefits of having a sister wife for the female companionship, she doesn’t see the benefits of adding a second husband to the family.
She told the host, “But the idea of like a man, another man for companionship, I’m just like, I don’t want to deal with another man.”
Mykelti Brown Padron Talks About Living Polygamy
As the interview continued, the host dug a little deeper into Mykelti’s thoughts on practicing polygamy. Shelise stated, “On paper, it can seem like a good idea, and in practice, it tends to implode.” She then posed the question, “I wonder how much of that you saw?”
Mykelti responded candidly, explaining, “In practice, we’re all human. So we’re all going to make mistakes. We’re all going to implode. We’re all going to have issues.”
The host agreed, “Yeah, it’s messy. A regular marriage is messy.” She added, “But I wonder if in your childhood it felt more idealistic, because if you try to practice it now, I wonder if you would feel the same way, actually being in that position and living it and giving your husband way to your bestie.”
She then posed the question, “But do you think you would actually be able to stomach it when it came time?”
Mykelti shared, “I don’t know if I’m being honest. Like, I don’t know, because I do have that growing up as a child, like rose-colored glasses lens on a lot of the time. So, I think about it often, where I’m like, if I could loan my husband out for a night with another woman, like, could I be okay with that?”
She continued, “I’m like, honestly, I think no. Like, I would have such a hard time with it, but at the same time, I’m like, ‘but here are the benefits of it.’ So that goes back to, I just think the brainwashing of being raised in it, where I’m like, these are the benefits, you know, it’s okay because it’ll be better in the end.”
Ultimately, Mykelti said she still doesn’t know how she would feel if she were actually faced with that situation in real life.
Mykelti Brown Padron Is Married to Tony Padron
Mykelti Brown Padron is happily married to Tony Padron, so despite the discussion around taking a second husband or living a polygamous lifestyle, it doesn’t appear to be something the couple is considering.
Mykelti and Tony tied the knot on camera in December 2016. Since then, Mykelti has also given birth to their three children, with all of the births being filmed for “Sister Wives.”
The couple’s first child, Avalon, was born in April 2021. The couple then welcomed twin boys, Archer and Ace, in November 2022.
While Mykelti is open about discussing her upbringing and the complexities of plural marriage, her current focus remains on her life with Tony and their growing family.
