Fans have been excited about seeing their favorite witches from “AHS: Coven” again, but season 13 is shaping up to be much bigger than a “Coven” reunion. “American Horror Story” season 13 looks like a celebration of the talent, storytelling and glorious assault on the senses that have made “AHS” a pop-culture phenomenon for more than a decade.
The Return Of The Queen(s)

Jessica Lange left the “AHS” franchise after season 4, “AHS: Freak Show.” Now, she’s back as a season regular for season 13 and she’s not returning as just one familiar face.
Lange will reprise all four of her previous “AHS” characters: Constance Langdon from “Murder House,” Sister Jude Martin from “Asylum,” Fiona Goode from “Coven” and Elsa Mars from “Freak Show.” Seeing Lange return to the franchise would have been exciting enough, but bringing all four of her iconic characters back makes her return even bigger.
And Lange isn’t the only “AHS” veteran pulling double or triple duty this season. Franchise mainstay Sarah Paulson will bring back six of her characters. And Evan Peters will reprise five of his.
Also returning are Angela Bassett as Marie Laveau, Emma Roberts as Madison Montgomery, Gabourey Sidibe as Queenie and Frances Conroy as Myrtle Snow. Billie Lourd will once again appear as Mallory.
Cultural icon and legendary filmmaker John Waters is also joining the “AHS” universe this season. With a cast this stacked, season 13 looks poised to pay appropriate homage to the characters, performances and twisted storytelling that built the franchise.
More Magic, Mayhem And Murder
“American Horror Story” season 13 is a massive crossover event celebrating some of the best and most terrifying moments from previous seasons. Rather than focusing exclusively on the witches of “Coven,” the season brings memorable characters and storylines from across the “AHS” universe together.
The story begins with a young man who survives a near-death experience and takes a mysterious hospice job. From there, the season expands into a much larger supernatural threat that draws characters from throughout the franchise into its orbit.
Cordelia Goode and the witches of Miss Robichaux’s Academy appear to be at the center of the coming battle, while familiar faces from “Murder House,” “Freak Show,” “Cult” and other seasons return as horrors from the past collide with a terrifying new threat.
With witches, serial killers, ghosts and some of the franchise’s most unforgettable villains all returning, season 13 could be the most ambitious “American Horror Story” season yet.
