Jennifer Lopez is gearing up for the release of her new film, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” with multiple promotional stops. During a recent interview on “LIVE with Kelly and Mark,” the former “American Idol” Judge and actress gave an update on her twins, Emme and Max.
Per PEOPLE, Lopez said, “Hey, the twins. They’re 17! Can you believe that?” The “Kiss of the Spider Woman” star continued, “I mean, it’s crazy. We’re visiting colleges today, between doing this [press] and the premiere, we’re visiting a college today. It’s happening — they’re leaving, they’re going, and it’s crazy.”
She continued, “I’m happy because I feel like, I remember how exciting that time in my life was like, ‘Oh, I’m figuring out what I want to do with my life.’ And it’s an exciting adventure, I want that for them. But I also think like, ‘Oh! I’m going to be by myself.'”
Lopez Also Opened Up About Soon Becoming an Empty Nester
Kelly Ripa then told Lopez that she’s going to enjoy being an empty nester. This led the singer to say she had an “inkling” she’d appreciate some aspects of her kids being at college.
The former “American Idol” judge then said, “But also always making a home that they want to come back to, right? That was the goal for me since they were born.”
Lopez added, “Whatever this is, whatever we create, the three of us together, it’s going to be something that they always are like, ‘When I go home, it feels good. It smells like home, it tastes like home.’ All of it.’ And I always concentrated on that with them. And I feel like we’ve created that.”
The interview continued, and they discussed how children undergo changes at various stages of development. Notably, Lopez admitted that her kids had previously been at a “brutal” age but that things had improved.
She said, “But now they’re 17, they’ll be 18 in February. They’re graduating this June from high school and I feel like, we’re close. We’re a close-knit three now. A lot has happened with us.”
Lopez continued, “We had to bond together, you know what I mean? That kind of changed things and made it really beautiful for us.”
‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ Could Earn Her an Oscar
Lopez has appeared in numerous beloved films over the years. However, critics have said that “Kiss of the Spider Woman” could earn her an Oscar nomination. The film hits movie theaters on October 10. Currently, it holds an impressive 82 rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is based on 49 reviews.
