‘Big Brother’ Legend Derrick Levasseur Teases Mystery Project

Derrick Levasseur is teasing a new project that points straight back to his detective roots.

The “Big Brother” 16 winner shared two recent Instagram posts from what appeared to be a studio set. He has not revealed the title of the project or where viewers will be able to watch it. Still, the posts gave followers enough clues to start asking questions.

In one video, Levasseur appeared in a suit while speaking directly into a camera. Viewers could not hear what he was saying because the clip used Bare Up’s song “Can’t Stop” over the audio. In another post, Levasseur shared a selfie with crew members in what appeared to be the same studio space.

The captions kept the mystery going.

Levasseur kept the first caption short while leaning into the theme.

“Working on something new… 🕵🏻‍♂️🎬” he wrote on Instagram.

The detective emoji and movie camera emoji did a lot of work there. Levasseur did not say whether the project is a show, special, podcast-related video project, or something else entirely. He also did not say when more details will be released.

His second post suggested the project had already finished filming.

“That’s a wrap…Can’t wait for you guys to see this one,” Levasseur wrote alongside a selfie from the studio.

The posts had people guessing. One follower wrote, “I keep getting Unsolved Mysteries vibes lol but maybe that’s a hope haha.”

Another asked the question sitting under the whole tease.

“What is it? What is it?!!!! 😁”

Others were less concerned about the details. They already knew they would be watching.

“I don’t know what it is or care because I will 💯 be watching. If Derrick does it, I will watch! 🙌” one comment read.

Levasseur also received support from familiar reality TV names. Fellow “Big Brother” winner and his “Big Brother: Unlocked” co-host Taylor Hale commented, “Foot on the gas!”

Fellow “The Traitors” faithful Wes Bergmann wrote, “You were built for this.”

Derrick Levasseur’s Detective Background

Levasseur’s latest tease comes after years of work built around investigations, interviews, and case coverage.

Before reality TV made him a familiar name, Levasseur worked as a detective. He is now a licensed private investigator.

In a video shared on Instagram for “Detective Perspective,” Levasseur said he has worked in investigations for more than 17 years. He said that experience included cases involving drugs, gangs, sexual assault, and homicide.

That background later became a major part of his post-“Big Brother” career. Levasseur hosted “Breaking Homicide” on Investigation Discovery after the show premiered in 2018. The series returned for a second season in 2019.

He also hosted “Crimefeed,” a weekly update series that aired from 2023 into 2024.

Levasseur has continued that work through podcasting. He co-hosts “Crime Weekly” with true crime creator, legal analyst, and commentator Stephanie Harlowe and hosts “Detective Perspective,” a weekly show centered on unsolved cases.

His latest Instagram posts did not confirm whether the new project is connected to that world (other than the detective emoji). For now, the details remain under wraps.

Levasseur became a CBS reality TV name after winning “Big Brother” 16 in 2014.

His detective background was part of what made his season so memorable. He kept that part of his life hidden from the other houseguests while building a dominant game inside the house.

Levasseur won the season by a 7 to 2 vote over Cody Calafiore. He has since remained part of the franchise through guest appearances, podcasts, and anniversary specials.

He is often listed among the show’s strongest winners alongside names like Dr. Will Kirby and Dan Gheesling.
