‘Below Deck’ Star Colin MacRae Suffered Serious Injury In February
On February 16, Below Deck Sailing Yacht” star Colin MacRae revealed on Instagram that he snapped his Achilles “clean in half and had to have surgery to join it back together.” He joked that this was because he “thought I could play rugby at 40.”
“Was a full rupture which felt like someone had shot me in the heel with a shotgun 😆. The video is post surgery, in the operating room with it connected again,” he wrote. “Going to be a long slow road to recovery, with the surgeon saying I’m going to have to learn to walk again in a few months.”
On March 27, he shared another video of himself on the boat, with his foot in a large boot.
“Today is 6 weeks since I snapped my Achilles,” he captioned the post. “Feels like a long way to go before I’m walking again. But it feels amazing to be back on the ocean. With my dogs and my people. I’m actually feeling less frustrated than I thought I would be. I’m at peace with the fact that it’s going to be a long road to recovery, and to just be grateful for moments like this.
“Nothing like a good old injury to tell you to slow down a little bit,” he added. “I’m confident that I’m going to come back stronger than ever though. Don’t want to take this body for granted ever again. Good things take time ❤️”
MacRae spent three seasons on “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” before moving on to pursue a personal sailing career. Specifically, he has been sailing in his own rebuilt Catamaran, going around the world. He keeps fans updated about his journeys, whether it’s on social media or through his official YouTube Channel, Sailing Parlay Revival. And he’s doing it all with his girlfriend, Brittany Amodeo, and their two dogs by his side.
