Carl Radke Reveals How His Brother’s Legacy Continues to Shape His Life

Carl Radke has shared major life moments on Bravo’s “Summer House,” including openly showcasing his romantic journey, including his engagement and subsequent breakup with co-star Lindsay Hubbard.

Radke has also opened up about his older brother, Curtis, and the drug addiction that ultimately led to his passing. Fans even saw the moment on “Summer House” when Radke received the devastating phone call about his brother’s death. His loss triggered personal struggles of his own, which he eventually overcame on his path to complete sobriety.

Carl Radke & His Mother Share How His Brother Curtis’ Story Lives On After His Death

On Carl Radke’s new “More Life” podcast, the reality star was joined by his mother, Sharon Radke, where they discussed the death of Curtis Radke, Carl’s older brother, who died in September 2020 following a battle with drug addiction and mental health struggles.

Carl frames his brother’s passing as not just a loss but as something that can have a positive ripple effect. Those who listen to Curtis’ story might reflect on their own lives, with Carl hoping it can benefit them as it did for his family.

“I think there’s a way to look at his passing as a way that people have been helped or have looked at themselves differently,” Carl shared. “Family members, me. I think it’s given us a new opportunity as a family. And he hopefully is helping other people. And guess what? His story will continue to live on through amazing Bravo and through my story and through Soft Bar and everything we do now with what we stand for and what we’re trying to achieve.”

“I think in a crazy way, he’s the guiding light, and almost the protector of me and our kind of vision for how to change this family trajectory,” he added.

According to People, Curtis’ death wasn’t the immediate wake-up call Carl needed to get sober, but he ultimately achieved sobriety in early 2021. Carl has since called his brother an “inspiration,” opening up the non-alcoholic bar Soft Bar in Brooklyn, New York, “for people like my brother.” He emphasized that it’s not just “a sober bar,” but a space “for people who are curious about taking a break from drinking but don’t know where to start.”

The new season of “Summer House” marks a major milestone for the Bravo series, now in its tenth season, with original cast members Radke, Lindsay Hubbard, Kyle Cooke, and Amanda Batula continuing to share their lives just as they have since the show began.

In the premiere episode, on Feb. 3, Radke is seen driving to the Hamptons with Cooke and Jesse Solomon, where he admits he would prefer the first-floor bedroom to “get in the mix” this summer. In fact, the trailer sees Radke really enjoying himself as he’s seen making out with newcomer Bailey Taylor.

But there’s a reason Radke wants to make this a summer he’ll never forget. While speaking during a panel with his season 10 cast for 92NY (via People), Radke shared it might be his last summer with the OGs.

“It was emotional,” he said about filming season 10. “It was exciting, but I felt like this might be the last time that the core group might be together. So it was like time to let it all hang out and really give it your best.”

On a more personal note, Radke shared that he was coming into the new season feeling “good in my own skin.” He added, ” I was feeling confident and I love hanging out with these guys. So, feeling good.”

  1. I think he is old enough to get serious about his life. Lindsay was never a match.she wanted so much more than he could offer. Find something else to be relevant about.
