Carl Radke Says ‘Summer House’ Producers Urged Him to Get Sober

Carl Radke is opening up about the conversations that came before his sobriety.

The “Summer House” star said producers spoke to him more than once about his drinking before he got sober. He shared the details during the March 17 episode of Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s “MeSsy” podcast.

Radke said those conversations happened years earlier, at a time when he was not ready to fully hear what people around him were seeing.

Radke said the conversations happened on two separate occasions. Both came years before he made a lasting change.

He explained that he did not view his situation the same way others around him did. In his mind, it was something he could manage. Looking back, he said it was clear people close to him had already started to see a pattern.

That disconnect is what stands out to him now.

Radke said he struggled with being fully honest about what was going on in his life at the time. He admitted that opening up publicly felt uncomfortable, especially when it meant confronting things he had not fully accepted about himself.

The conversations with production, he said, stayed with him. Even if he did not act on them right away, they were not forgotten.

Radke also pointed to the early seasons of “Summer House” as part of that same period.

He said the conversations around his behavior started as early as season one. Those close to him, including castmates, were familiar with what he described as a cycle. There would be a difficult night, followed by an apology, followed by an attempt to move forward. Then it would happen again.

That repetition became part of his experience on the show.

What stands out now is the way he talks about that time. There is less defensiveness and more clarity. He is not revisiting those years to relive them. He is explaining how he understands them now.

For viewers who have followed Carl Radke on “Summer House,” that shift is significant. His story has played out on screen for years. It also offers a clearer look at how he connects those earlier moments to the decision that came later.

In recent years, Radke has continued to speak openly about his sobriety, both on and off “Summer House.” His latest comments add more context to that journey and the conversations that helped shape it.
