American singer and musician John Mellencamp has given an emotional update about his daughter Teddi Mellencamp and her ongoing cancer battle. Speaking on “3rd Hour of Today,” John revealed that the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star’s condition has seemingly worsened over the last few months and that she is currently suffering from the disease.
John Mellencamp Gives Update About Teddi Mellencamp’s Health
GettyWhile appearing on “3rd Hour of Today,” John shared an update about his 44-year-old daughter’s health amid her ongoing struggles after being diagnosed with cancer. Teddi was originally diagnosed in October 2022 with Stage 2 melanoma, which subsequently spread to other organs including her lungs and brain.
According to John, he is trying to convince Teddi to move back to her hometown with him so that he can help. However, the “Real Housewives” star has so far refused to move away from Los Angeles with her family.
“I’ve tried to talk her into moving back home,” John Mellencamp told hosts Craig Melvin, Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer “I said, ‘Move back to Indiana, bring the kids and just come back and live in Indiana,’ but she won’t do it.”
He went on to give an update on her current health and how the cancer has been affecting Teddi.
“Suffering,” he revealed. “You can’t say you’re cancer-free with the type of cancer she’s got for three years. So she has lesions in her brain, it went from her back, just a little, teeny spot on her. Over the last couple years it grew, and it got inside her brain and her lungs.”
The singer and songwriter went on to say that Teddi “has good days” and “feels good” but this significantly changes after she undergoes immunotherapy treatment, when “she feels like hell for about four days” before “feeling normal again.”
The news comes just a few days after John provided an update on Teddi’s health while appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” During his conversation with Rogan, John said that Teddi is currently “really sick” and “suffering right now” from what he described as Stage 4 cancer.
“It’s not [expletive] fun,” John said. “She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now.”
Teddi Mellencamp Previously Shared Positive News About Her Cancer
The latest news from John comes after Teddi shared a more positive update about her cancer battle at the end of 2025. In a series of social media posts, Teddi revealed that her cancer shrunk but that there was still a risk of it coming back.
She said, “Just to give a little life update, at this point, there is no detectable cancer… I still need to stay on immunotherapy for another year.”
“And I am not considered in remission or anything like that,” she added. “The way (doctors) said it works, it’s like one year, then two years, then at three years, you’re allowed to be considered in remission.”
Teddi continued, “People think just because the cancer’s gone that I can’t still get sick or whatever, but I’m still in treatment.”
