Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules” star Lala Kent has bravely opened up about her family loss. The reality TV star’s dog, Lilly, died a week ago, and she is reflecting on the incredible impact she had on her life.
LaLa Kent Reflects on Her Loss
Kent opened up about her loss on her “Untraditionally Lala” podcast on October 29. In the podcast, she discussed her beloved dog’s declining health over the last three years before her passing and how she had multiple health problems, including seizures and a stroke. Seeing Lilly’s health decline so drastically was difficult for her and her family. “It became a whole lot for the family. It became a whole lot for the dog, most importantly,” she said.
Before Lilly’s passing, Kent had planned to euthanize her, or as she referred to it, send her “to the rainbow bridge,” but she always backed out of the appointment because she was not ready to let her go. On October 22, Lilly passed away, and Kent felt it was time to send her “to doggy heaven.” She was 15.
In her podcast, Kent reflected on this decision. “I had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life,” she said. “And I felt okay about it because I had tried to pick her up … as she was walking, or attempting to, I should say, her front legs gave out and she smacked her face on the floor, and I just knew I’m being really selfish. This dog doesn’t deserve this at all.”
Despite the sadness of the day, it also coincided with Kent’s seventh sobriety anniversary. A brilliant milestone. “It was such a weird, beautiful, and sad day that, like, this dog who has been through every monumental moment of my life,” she recalled. She also credited Lilly with giving her a “reason to get out of bed.” Kent adopted Lilly when she was 20, Parade reports.
Fans Show Support for LaLa Kent
Fans of Kent have followed her journey and know all about Lilly and the special role she had in her life. On October 29, Kent posted a video collage of herself and Lilly on Instagram, highlighting some of their happiest moments. “Lilly is forever in our hearts,” she wrote in the caption.
“She was your protector while you needed it. You don’t need that protection anymore. I’m so sorry for your loss. Our pets are as important to us as our children. I hope your heart heals in time,” a comment reads.
“I SO relate to this and I’m so sorry for your loss lala and family. Our soul pets are SO hard to lose because we will never get another like them I believe,” another supportive fan shared.
Many people have sent love and support to Kent. “Such a difficult decision – Lily was clearly loved and she knew that – our pets deserve to leave this world with dignity and you gave her that gift,” a third commenter shared.

So sorry for your loss. We had to also put a cat down after 18 wonderful years with him. And excatly what happened to your dogs front legs giving out the same happened to our cat Jude. And we also felt the same way . Selfish cause we didn’t want him to leave us. We called our cat our little cat human. So my heart goes out to you and praying for you.
