Farahan’s first book, subtitled “My Story of Family, Fame, and Becoming a King,” will detail the real estate agent’s life growing up as an immigrant in Beverly Hills coming to terms with his identity. Per the press release, “Memoirs of a Gay Shah” will chronicle “the journey that took [Farahan] from closeted teen to reality TV royalty, from hiding his truth to owning every inch of his spotlight.”

For chapter one, Farahan’s book opens by discussing “mispronunciations, microaggressions, and Persian identity in Beverly Hills, explaining how leaving Iran at age four left him with nostalgia for a country that no longer exists โ€” the glam, secular, Shah-era Iran of his early memories.”

From there, Farahan will explain how his family became refugees during a vacation to Los Angeles and how his parents rebuilt their lives in America, instilling in their son what he calls “Persian ambition.”

Later on, Farahan gets vulnerable with readers regarding his “queer coming-of-age” and his drive to find a community amid the AIDS crisis. He’ll also be honest about the messy parts of his life, including affairs and cheating scandals, toxic relationships, and a “chaotic web of lovers.”

Of course, “Memoirs of a Gay Shah” also discusses Farahan’s reality TV career, including how “Shahs of Sunset” affected his mental health and relationships. Not only that, Farahan’s book will “clap back against critics of queer and Iranian identities.”

Finally, towards the end of the book, Farahan talks about returning to the Iranian border for the first time as an adult, allowing him to confront his trauma and embrace his new identity as an American.

“Memoirs of a Gay Shah” will be published by Sourcebooks and will hit bookstores and online retailers on April 7, 2026.
