Salley Carson opened up about her unexpected path to “Southern Charm.”
In February 2026, the Bravo TV personality appeared on Gia Giudice’s “Casual Chaos” podcast, where she talked about her unusual reality TV past and how it led to her current gig on the South Carolina-based reality show.
“I never imagined myself on TV, ever,” Carson said on the podcast, adding that reality TV opportunities “definitely fell” into her lap.
“It started with a broken engagement and then ‘The Bachelor’ caught hold of my story and what happened,” she told Giudice. “So they rushed the interview process, and I found myself on ‘The Bachelor, regretted it, left, found myself on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ because they asked me to come back, and I was single, and I was like, why not?”
“And then, toxic environment, so I removed myself from there too,” Carson explained. “Then [‘Southern Hospitality’] was just random because me and Joe Brad Bradley met super randomly at a bar and he was like, ‘Hey, you’re cute,’ and I was like, ‘Thanks,’ and then I didn’t even know he was on a TV show. And I had just moved to Charleston, so I found myself on that, and then Madison [LeCroy] put me up for ‘Southern Charm,’ and that’s how I ended up here.”
Salley Carson’s ‘Bachelor Gigs Were Cut Short
BravoCarson works as a spine surgery robot operator, and she met her former fiancé, a doctor, through her work. Shortly before her wedding date, Carson’s engagement ended.
In January 2022, she briefly appeared on Clayton Echard’s season of “The Bachelor,” but she eliminated herself from the show ahead of the limo meet and greet. Carson later met with Echard on-camera to explain that her wedding was supposed to take place on the same weekend that filming for “The Bachelor” began. She declined “The Bachelor” star’s offer of a rose to stay on his season of the show.
Carson was cast on “Bachelor in Paradise” that summer, but she left on her own after it was discovered that she was still in contact with her ex.
Speaking with People magazine, Carson explained that the aftermath of her “Bachelor” stints became difficult as some fans accused her of ending her engagement to be on the show.
“When I was going through that with ‘The Bachelor,’ I was reading all the comments, I was on Reddit. I was being so insecure, and I was really sad and depressed,” she recalled. “And then I went to therapy and got out of that relationship, and I feel like I truly am the strongest that I’ve ever been.”
“I’ve been through a lot with ‘The Bachelor,’” Carson added. “Those shows taught me how to be confident outside of the haters because I really don’t care.”
Salley Carson Bought a House in South Carolina in 2024
Two years after her Bachelor Nation fails, Carson appeared on Bravo’s “Southern Hospitality,” where she became involved in a mini love triangle with series star Joe Bradley and cast member TJ Dinch’s roommate, Gaston Rojas, who would go on to date “Southern Charm” cast member Taylor Ann Green.
Carson didn’t tell Bradley that she kissed Rojas right before going on a date with him, but he found out.
“You went to [Gaston’s house] and made out with him right before our date. That’s like a [expletive] serial killer move,” Bradley told Carson on a “Southern Hospitality” episode.
At the time, Bradley told Us Weekly, “Charleston gets messy. There’s a reason why there’s two shows in a tiny town.” He also joked that Carson’s past role on two “Bachelor” shows should “have been the first red flag.”
In February 2024, Carson posted to Instagram to reveal she bought a home in Charleston, South Carolina, where “Southern Hospitality” and “Southern Charm” are both filmed. “Officially a Charleston homeowner!!!” she captioned a series of shots of her new home.
Once it was announced that she would appear on “Southern Charm,” it became apparent that she had several ties to the cast. During her Season 10 debut on the show, Carson announced, “Taylor’s new boyfriend is my ex.”
On “Casual Chaos,” she added that she “kissed” Shep Rose “like four years ago,” before she was even on the show.

Trying to show Craig ha ha I have a new interest is so not good if your really interested in a true blue realitionship with a man like Creig Conover. He’s a catch and only if you start to really being you and that your not just a good time Sally. It’s all up to you Sally if you really want to have a deep and meaning realitionship and a future with a really good guy Craig Conover stop being so aloof and so desperate.
