The Bravo universe is rallying behind former “Vanderpump Rules” star Scheana Shay after she shared the heartbreaking news that her cat, Penny Lane, has died.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, August 12, Shay revealed that she had Penny Lane for 17 years, first welcoming her into her life at age 24. She reflected on how her sweet cat remained by her side through some of the biggest life changes, including her marriages and divorce, becoming a mother, and multiple moves.
Scheana Shay Mourns Death of Beloved Cat Penny Lane
Scheana Shay had to say goodbye to her beloved companion of 17 years, her cat Penny Lane. In an Instagram post, the former “The Valley” star shared a series of photos capturing some of her favorite memories of Penny, including snapshots of her during Shay’s pregnancy, her daughter, Summer Moon, cuddling with Penny, and even Penny making an appearance on “Vanderpump Rules.”
“Two nights ago we had to say goodbye to my first baby Penny Lane at home in her favorite spot— in front of the fireplace. 🐾 17 years with my sweet girl and it still wasn’t enough,” Shay’s caption began.
Shay detailed how Penny was by her side throughout her major moves. “I’ve experienced a lot of loss in my life, but this has been a unique kind of pain—one I’ve never known before. Penny Lane has been the constant through so many seasons of my life. From a tiny apartment in Hollywood, to the Vegas Strip, then the Marina, the desert, the beach in San Diego, and finally the Valley here in Los Angeles…she was there for all of it. The things she has seen…. people would pay good money for 😹”
The reality star noted how Penny was also with her during her biggest life moments, including “my married days, my divorced-and-desperate era, through miscarriage, motherhood, and everything in between.”
Shay added that Penny “made her the cat lady I am today,” after she and her husband, Brock Davies, recently welcomed three more kittens into their home. “I miss her nighttime meows, her wet little nose nudging me and her constantly wanting to make an appearance in every cameo video I do at home,” she wrote.
Shay also shared the news of Penny’s passing on her Instagram Stories, posting a photo of Summer Moon holding her cat with The Beatles song “Penny Lane” and a cat crossing the rainbow bridge.
