Steven McBee Jr. is not ready to close the door on “The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys,” despite recent comments from his family about stepping away from the spotlight.
Bravo has not announced whether “The McBee Dynasty” will return for season 4 after season 3 concluded on August 17. Steven’s mom, Kristi McBee, previously said it was time for her family to “enjoy our lives and be out of the public eye.”
Steven, however, now says some of those comments were made during emotional moments and don’t necessarily mean the family is finished with the Bravo reality series.
During the August 24 episode of Roxanne Bahri and Shantel Butras’ podcast, Steven admitted he has a habit of speaking in absolutes.
“I’m really bad about speaking in superlatives, so, ‘Always and never,’ right?” Steven said. “I need to get away from that. My family inherently does the same, so [we’ll say], ‘We’re never doing that again.’ … It’s in the height of the emotional state. I’m in the height of some of the online backlash, and so I speak out and say that.”

Steven, 33, made it clear that he has no issues with Bravo or the production behind “The McBee Dynasty.” He said the network has been “extremely good” to his family.
“I have a lot of people that care about not only me but my family from the network down to production. We’re treated well. A lot of this online backlash is my own doing,” he said.
Steven received criticism during season 3 as viewers watched his relationship with Allie Eklund play out. The two split in April after Steven publicly accused Eklund of infidelity during the 2026 Stagecoach Music Festival. Eklund denied the allegations.
Steven later apologized for controversial text messages he sent Eklund, telling Us Weekly there was “no excuse or justification” for his actions.
During the podcast, Steven acknowledged making mistakes in the relationship, including how quickly they moved after getting together.
“A lot of this comes back to one person, and a person staring directly in the mirror at me,” Steven said. “I would love to have the opportunity — a mulligan, I guess you could say — the chance to show people that I’m not this horrible person. I have anger issues. I’d be the first to admit that.”
Steven added, “I have some flaws that I absolutely need to work on. But I am not what so many headlines, what my ex has attempted to make me out to be over the last three months. I would love to have the opportunity to showcase [that].”

If “The McBee Dynasty” does return, Steven already knows one change he would make: He does not want to film another season with a girlfriend.
Steven said he wants viewers to see more of the close relationship between members of the McBee family rather than having his romantic life become a major storyline.
“Yes, there’s a lot of drama in our lives, but 95 [percent] of the time we are as thick as can be, as close as can be and we live a very good life, and I feel like we are a very good family for the most part,” Steven said. “And I would love the opportunity to showcase that, and again, learn from my mistakes and learn from where I messed up in the past, and not have a girlfriend on a season.”
His comments come after Kristi announced in July that she planned to step away from the public eye.
“My family and I truly appreciate all of the love and support from the ones that have been loyal, kind and have shown grace,” Kristi wrote in the comments section of a video. “Between the relentless smear campaign on Steven from the two ex’s, who can’t seem to move on, and then them going after my daughter-in-law who’s eight months pregnant, on top of the cruelty of a lot of the Bravo audience, I’ve had enough.”
Kristi added, “I never needed this or wanted this and it’s time for my family to enjoy our lives and be out of the public eye.”
