Steven McBee Jr. Proudly Stands by Father Steve McBee Sr. at BravoCon Amid Recent Legal Matters

The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys” star Steven McBee Jr. shared a positive update on Steve McBee Sr. and what his mindset was like following his recent prison sentencing.

Details on Steve McBee Sr.’s Prison Sentence

One day after the popular Bravo show got renewed for its third season, Steve Sr. was sentenced to two years in prison for a multi-million dollar crop insurance fraud scheme, which he pleaded guilty to in November.

E! News detailed the October 16 sentencing hearing from court documents obtained by NBC News. The documents stated that U.S. District Court Judge Stephen R. Bough gave Steve a punishment of 24 months in prison, plus another two years on supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $4,022,124 in restitution and a $100 special assessment to the court, per the docs.

Prior to his sentencing, Steve Sr. “admitted that he engaged in fraudulent activity from 2018 to 2020 that caused an economic loss to the U.S. Department of Agriculture,” according to a press release from the Department of Justice put out in November.

The press release continued, “McBee submitted fraudulent documents to [insurance company] Rain and Hail that underreported his total 2018 corn crop by approximately 674,812 bushels and underreported his total 2018 soybean crop by approximately 155,833 bushels,” the release stated. “As a result of these false reports, McBee received $2,605,943 in federal crop insurance benefits to which he was not entitled, as well as $552,980 in federal crop insurance premium subsidies to which he was not entitled, for a total of $3,158,923.”

The government claimed a total loss of $4,022,123, one dollar less than Steve’s restitution payment.

The McBee Brothers Rally Behind Their Father

Following his sentencing, the McBee patriarch received an outpouring of support from the rest of his family.

While sharing a previous Father’s Day post, Steven wrote on his Instagram story, “Love ya dad. Whole family is here for you.”

“We will get through anything together. To the hardest working man I know, it’s our turn to be here for you. We got you dad,” Cole McBee captioned a family photo he also shared on his Instagram Story.

Steven Jr. opened up in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, prior to the sentencing date.

Despite feeling “scared” and “nervous,” Steven stood resolutely beside his dad. “We love him so much, and love our family unit, so to picture him not being here with us for any amount of time … it’s scary.”

“We’re focusing on the positive things we have going, of which there are so many, but I’d be lying if I said that black cloud hasn’t been hanging over us every second of every day since we first found out. … We know, no matter what, if we stick together as a family, we’ll make it through anything,” he said.

A fan asked Steven Jr. how his dad was doing during a Day 3 panel at BravoCon 2025.

“My dad is the most optimistic person we’ve ever met in our lives,” Steven Jr. answered as he sat onstage alongside brothers Cole and Jesse McBee, showing up as a united family front. “The man was built to handle stressful situations. If anything, we’re more stressed out than he is.”

Steven Jr. concluded hopefully, “we’re just here to love and support him through this time, and as a family, we’ll get through anything together.”
