Professional dancer Gleb Savchenko has competed on “Dancing With the Stars” for 13 seasons. But ahead of the season 35 premiere, he’s taking a step back to work on another project.

Many “DWTS” fans felt surprised to see he wasn’t part of the Live tour this year, but it seems other commitments dominated his schedule. While the other pros are touring across the country, Gleb has been quietly filming with a new cast of colorful reality stars.

Gleb Savchenko Joins Alex Cooper’s Latest Project

Professional dancer Gleb Savchenko still has yet to win a Mirrorball trophy on “Dancing With the Stars.” But could this be the year he wins on another reality competition show?

Podcaster Alex Cooper has a new series coming out and wanted the most controversial figures in reality television to join the cast. “Unwell Winter Games” features 16 “polarizing” figures who will go head to head in physical and mental games in hopes of winning cash prizes.

The show tapped ballroom bad boy Gleb Savchenko to compete, which he happily obliged.

In the new trailer for the series, viewers can easily spot Gleb mingling with other cast members, including “Mormon Wives” star Dakota Mortensen. “DWTS” season 33 contestant Anna Delvey will also compete in the series.

The Russian Dancer Has a Complex Love Life

“Dancing With the Stars” pro Gleb Savchenko has made headlines for a wide range of reasons related to his romantic connections. In 2020, he and his ex-wife Elena Samodanova frequently spoke out against one another in the press.

The Russian dancer competed with model Brooks Nader on “DWTS” season 33, which resulted in their subsequent romantic relationship. Their dynamic sparked rampant rumors and allegations during the competition, which also played out on Brooks’ reality show, “Love Thy Nader.”

Gleb and Brooks each pointed fingers at each other for the reason behind the breakup. However, they seemed quite smitten during the competition.

“When we get to dance with each other for five hours a day, and we’re so close and personal and she looks like that, we just kind of develop that kind of chemistry,” the 42-year-old told PEOPLE at the time.

Alex Cooper’s “Unwell Winter Games” premieres on YouTube starting Monday, April 6, and concludes on Thursday, April 9. ABC will likely air “Dancing With the Stars” season 35 this September.
