Hilaria Baldwin Receives Special Support From Stepdaughter Ireland Ahead of DWTS Season 34

Hilaria Baldwin is receiving support from her celebrity stepdaughter ahead of “Dancing with the Stars.”

On Sept. 4, the 41-year-old mom of seven, who is partnered with pro dancer Gleb Savchenko for the 34th season of the celebrity ballroom competition, was the subject of a passionate social media post penned by her stepdaughter, Ireland Baldwin.

Hilaria is married to actor Alec Baldwin, 67, and shares seven children with him—Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, María, and Ilaria—ranging in age from 2 to 12. The actor’s 29-year-old daughter, Ireland, is his only child with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger.

Ireland Baldwin Said She’s ‘Proud’ of Hilaria for Joining DWTS

In a post to Instagram, Ireland shared a photo of her and Hilaria. The actress and model captioned the photo with a lengthy tribute to her stepmother days after her DWTS casting was announced.

“I wanted to take a second to talk about my step mom @hilariabaldwin,” Ireland wrote. “If people actually knew her the way I do, they would be quite surprised. Hilaria has had a far more complex and chaotic upbringing than she lets on and I think that’s why we’ve maybe bonded in some ways? She is eccentric and totally bat s*** crazy (in a fun way) but she saved my dad’s life.”

Ireland continued, “She turned his health around and has shown him the forgiveness and kindness that he needed. She also recognizes and nourishes the parts of my father that are the most compassionate and wonderful. She’s taught him that he doesn’t need to suffer inside of his own head and stay stuck in his own past. That it’s never too late to admit you need help. And it’s never too late to learn to be kind to yourself.”

Ireland went on to credit Hilaria for helping to repair her relationship with her father, Alec.

“Hilaria is the reason I am able to have the close relationship with my father that I do,” she wrote. “She is the reason I get to have siblings/a big family that I’ve always wanted. She has always respected me, accepted my flaws, embraced me, and has always shown me kindness. I met her as a teenager and I needed her as an example, I still very much look up to her now.  I am so proud of her for doing Dancing With the Stars and I CANNOT wait to cheer her a** on. She deserves this! And it’s not my place to share the ins and outs, but this woman is a gem and deserves all the love.”

Hilaria responded to the post with, “I’m crying. I love you with all my heart, @irelandirelandireland ❤️. These words mean so much. You mean so much to me 💙.”

Alec Baldwin & His Daughter Made Headlines for a Voicemail Message in 2007

In 2007, Alec Baldwin and his then-11-year-old daughter, Ireland, made headlines after a voicemail message was leaked online. In the famous message, the angry actor called his estranged ex Basinger “a thoughtless pain in the a**” and called Ireland a “rude little pig.”

According to People magazine, Baldwin later expressed regret over the message and the damage that it caused his child.  “It’s a scab that never heals cause it’s being picked at all the time by other people. My daughter, that’s hurt her in a permanent way,” the actor told “Good Morning America.”

Alec Baldwin married Hilaria five years after the incident. Not only has his relationship with Ireland improved, but his relationship with his ex, Basinger, is in a much better place. Speaking with Variety in February 2025, Basinger said she and her ex “have a great relationship.”

“I have great respect for where he is today and his family,” the actress said. “You know, we don’t spend Christmases and holidays or see each other very much. But we talk. He’ll pick up the phone and call me, and we have a very genuinely, cordial and I think loving relationship in a lot of ways, just because we share a daughter, and I don’t wish him anything but everything good.”
