Jan Ravnik and his celebrity dance partner Jen Affleck were eliminated on Halloween Night in Week 7 of “Dancing with the Stars” Season 34. The pair had an incredible run, and many were not ready to say goodbye; however, being part of the competition was highly stressful, and Ravnik has opened up about the toll it took on his health.
Jan Ravnik Reveals Weight Loss
Season 34 was Ravnik’s debut season as a pro on the ABC dance competition. Before this, he was known as a dancer on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. He and Affleck even performed a Contemporary to Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do” on Halloween Night. There is no denying that Ravnik is an exceptionally talented dancer, but he has also been criticized for his lack of ballroom experience.
“I started the show [weighing] 182 pounds,” Ravnik shared during a TikTok Live; a clip of it was later posted on a Reddit “Dancing with the Stars” forum. “Yesterday, I went on my scale and it was 171. I lost 11 pounds from this job. This is because of you guys — you and all the anxiety and the press.”

The comment section of the Reddit post has been flooded with love and support for Ravnik. “He brings a smile to my face and I literally laugh so hard! He’s a gem!!” a fan wrote. “Jan isn’t even gonna need DWTS soon, he’ll have become a big tiktok star lol,” another fan shared.
Other reactions include, “Jan is so precious, we need to protect him at all costs hahaha,” “love love him,” and “I hope he wants to come back and I hope the producers want him back. I think they’ll want him back, but I’m less sure that he’ll want to subject himself to all the drama and press again. Hopefully the next few weeks in the eliminated pros club is what he needs. He’s such a good addition to the pro cast.”
The Criticism Jan Ravnik Has Faced
Ravnik has handled negativity like an absolute champ, including when he received harsh criticism from former DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Chmerkovskiy made his comments on his wife Peta Murgatroyd’s “Penthouse with Peta” podcast on October 24.
“‘Dancing With the Stars’ is a worldwide phenomenon. … I’m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars,” Chmerkovskiy said of Ravnik’s casting. “There’s zero foundation technique, quality, understanding of the partnership. Bro, I’m getting emotional. It is absurd, and this is unreal how blind we have to be, and God forbid say what’s obviously there.”
In response, Ravnik was gracious. He was asked about Chmerkovskiy’s comments in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I have no comment on that,” Ravnik said. “Look, I got all the love on this show. All the pros, from the judges, also. Like everyone gave me so much love, and whoever saying outside, the people [who are] trying to stay relevant and spreading the hate, this is not a way to do it. And I never will spread or take the hate.”
