Beloved “Dancing with the Stars” co-host Julianne Hough shared an unexpected update with her fans on Thursday, January 8. She posted a selfie on Instagram Stories, with the text overlay reading, “from this …” The next photo on her Stories shows her with a small head wound on the top of her head. The text overlay reads, “to this.” But what happened to her?
Julianne Hough Shares Painful Head Injury
Although it is unclear how Hough injured herself, a clue appears to be in the text she used on the photo, which includes an emoji of a surfer. The injury looks painful and bloody, but it has been tended to. In a third Instagram Story, she receives help from digital creator Jon Hechtkopf, who appears to be spraying wound spray on the sore. In the text overlay this time, it reads, “Thank you, Dr. Hechtkopf.”
Hough updated fans for the fourth time while wearing a red bandage around her head. “Merry Christmas from Karate Kid,” she joked, before giving fans a glimpse of the bandage on her head. The professional dancer shared no further updates, but her Stories were posted just one hour after she shared a bunch of photos on Instagram of herself enjoying a beach vacation with Hechtkopf.
Photos show her posing on the beach, holding a rolling pin, and living her best life. But there is no bandage in sight in these pictures. The caption offered no further information either. Instead, she wrote, “Where to next?!” Hechtkopf reacted to the post with a comment, writing, “Best trip ever! Next up, Japan!” He ended his comment with a red heart emoji.
Julianne Hough’s Loves Surfing
Hough shared her love for surfing before, and in an appearance on “Live with Kelly & Mark,” she discussed how learning the sport was a lifelong dream.
“I’ve been wanting to surf my entire life. In fact, I remember when I was like seven, I went to my parents in absolute shambles, and I was like, ‘There’s not enough time in the world to try and be the best at everything!’” she said. “And one of those things I wanted to try was surfing, and I never got around to doing it. I finally did, and this summer, I went wake surfing in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and I ended up going to Surf Ranch … Kelly Slater’s Surf Ranch, where I actually learned how to literally get barreled!”
Hough is a bit of a daredevil and has shared her injuries publicly before, including recently posting a video on Instagram in which she runs in the rain, then trips and falls. This post caught the attention of her fans and also her ex-husband, Brooks Laich.
