See Beyoncé’s Show-Stopping Met Gala Return After 10 Years, Blue Ivy’s Debut

Beyoncé Knowles has arrived at the Met Gala!

Queen Bey made her triumphant return to fashion’s biggest night on Monday, May 4, marking her first appearance at the annual event in a decade.

The singer last walked the red carpet at the swanky soiree, held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, back in 2016. This year marks her eighth appearance, following her debut in 2008 and returns in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

For the 2026 event, she also served as co-chair, alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.

The superstar singer had fans screaming with her regal arrival, stepping onto the red carpet rocking a truly show-stopping look from Olivier Rousteing featuring feathers, diamonds, headpiece, and massive train.

The must-see ensemble looked like a silver skeleton, right down to the ribcage, hips and spine.

It was also a family affair for Bey, as she was joined at the event by husband Jay-Z. The two posed for pictures alongside their 14-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, who made her Met Gala debut with the 2026 appearance (photos below).

Blue wore an all-white gown and matching coat, taking pictures with her sunglasses on alongside her famous parents.

Speaking with La La Anthony for Vogue’s red carpet livestream, Beyoncé said it felt “surreal” to be there with Blue by her side. “She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share it with her, and I think she looks so incredible,” Knowles said of her daughter.

As for what she was looking forward to?

“I think really experiencing this through the eyes of Blue and being able to relax,” she said, before adding, “For me, I’m wearing Olivier Rousteing, someone who has been so loyal to me. It really was about representing him.”

2026 Met Gala Theme Explained

The annual event is held to help raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

This year’s spring exhibition at the center of the celebration is “Costume Art,” while the dress code for the red carpet is “Fashion is Art.”

According to Vogue, the exhibition “explores the ‘centrality of the dressed body’ through depictions and interpretations of the human form,” with dresses paired with paintings, sculptures, and other works from art history.

“In turn, the dress code encourages attendees to consider the many ways that designers use the body as their blank canvas,” added the publication.

Beyoncé’s Past Met Gala Looks

While it’s been 10 years since she last walked the Met Gala red carpet, Knowles is no stranger to the event.

Her first appearance came in 2008, when she attended the “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy”-themed gala in a pale pink gown from Armani Privé.

She followed up her debut three years later, as the event celebrated designer Alexander McQueen with a “Savage Beauty” theme. For that carpet, Beyoncé wore a sequined, black dress with gold embellishments from Emilio Pucci.

For the “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” theme in 2012, Knowles began her trend of wearing Givenchy to the event. She rocked a sheer dress with black embellishments and a feathered train, before wearing the designer again for the “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” “Charles James: Beyond Fashion,” “China: Through the Looking Glass,” and “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology”-themed carpets.

Before 2026, her most recent look was a pink latex dress with floral details.
