“Riverdale” star Camila Mendes made an appearance at the 37th Annual GLAAD Media Awards and showed up to the event in a stunning sheer gown.
The actress “chose a vintage Valentino dress with sheer cutouts,” a “piece [that] perfectly balanced bold design with timeless sophistication,” according to Reality Tea.
Getty“The dress featured thin spaghetti straps and a bra-style bodice that structured the upper half,” Reality Tea added. “Below that, sheer mesh panels ran through the torso, creating an illusion effect that made the piece appear almost weightless.”

This detail helped shape the silhouette while keeping the look fluid,” per Reality Tea. “Subtle crystal embellishments were scattered across the fabric, catching light under the camera flash and adding a soft sparkle.”
GettyFinally, Reality Tea notes that “[t]he color palette played a major role in the dress’s impact. The champagne nude shade closely matched Mendes’ skin tone, giving the piece a second-skin feel. This technique is often used in couture to create a barely-there look while still keeping the outfit elegant.”

Mendes took to Instagram to share a few photos of her look, and in the caption, wrote, “baby’s first GLAAD awards 🏳️🌈♥️ couldn’t be prouder that our first @honor.role production was a queer coming-of-age comedy. @griffininsummerfilm [“Griffin in Summer”] is streaming now on hulu!!”

Gisele Bündchen Wore the Same Valentino Dress on the Runway
When Mendes made an appearance at the GLAAD event, she was “channel[ing] Gisele Bündchen in [the] fully sheer Valentino dress,” Reality Tea pointed out. That’s because the gown was originally worn by the model during the Valentino Spring 2001 runway finale.
Bündchen recently paid tribute to Valentino following his passing on January 19. Sharing an Instagram post, she wrote, “Valentino was a true genius, an artist with a rare sensitivity and grace. I feel incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to work with him, to know him, and to experience his kindness and generosity firsthand.”
She went on to say, “Farewell, Valentino. Thank you for the beauty you brought into the world and for the warmth you gave so freely. You will be deeply missed ❤️”
