Stila Cosmetics is the exclusive makeup brand for “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.” As part of the collaboration, Stila created a scene-stealing makeup collection inspired by the film’s characters and storytelling.
Painting Panem
Stila released the collection today, Aug. 12, on its website. The collection is also available on Ulta Beauty’s website and will hit selves in Ulta stores starting Oct. 16.
The collection features several limited-edition, collectible products, inspired by Panem and the characters in the upcoming “The Hunger Games” film, which hits theaters Nov. 20.
Sunrise Eyes includes five, travel-sized liquid eye shadows, each inspired by a different character in the film, inside a “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” branded tin.
- Lenore Dove: Matte taupe brown
- Effie: Muted pastel blue, matte
- Maysilee: Shimmering olive green with gold sparkle
- Proserpina: Shimmering baby pink with blue glitter
- Mags: Muted beige taupe, matte
Inspired by Haymitch and Lenore Dove’s love story, All Fire includes a waterproof gel eye liner pencil and liquid eye shadow in a collectible tin.
Outside of the character specific sets, three distinct lines make up the rest of the collection, each with their own distinct mood. Each product, sold separately, in the line features “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” packaging.
The Rebel Beauty line opts for more understated shades, which include a charcoal liquid eyeliner, cool taupe matte eyeshadow and intense black mascara.
Pretty Striking, on the other hand, features bold shades and vivid color for dramatic looks. Inside the line is a multicolored pearl highlighter, electric blue shimmer liquid eyeliner and fiery ruby red liquid lipstick.
Lastly, the Meadow Dream line includes warm, glowy colors across a peachy/rose gold highlighter, metallic copper waterproof gel eye liner and sheer vivid orange red lip balm.
Developing the Collection with Stila
Stila’s collaboration with “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” began with the film’s Hair, Makeup, and Prosthetics Designer Natalie MacGowan Spencer. She requested Stila Cosmetics products while developing the character’s looks. From there, the cosmetics brand worked closely with Lionsgate and MacGowan Spencer to create the collection. Even Suzanne Collins, the book’s author, helped shape the collection, approving everything from the product names to the packaging. The team then brought the finished collection to the film’s Berlin set for the beauty team to experience.
In an Instagram post on Aug. 12, Stila announced its official collaboration with “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.”
The caption read, “A collaboration of artistry, vision and storytelling. As the exclusive makeup brand for ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,’ Stila created a scene-stealing collection inspired by the characters and storytelling that we’re obsessed with. Now, fans can create their own epic looks with these limited-edition products and shades.”
“Our partnership with The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is inspired by incredible storytelling that touches millions,” Stila’s CEO Daniel Annese said in a press release. “Together, we have shared the same vision for beauty and creativity on the highest level. We can’t wait to see all that beauty on screen and we’re so excited for this new chapter for Stila.”
