There’s no doubt that Zendaya has made her mark as a style icon. The same can be said for Sarah Jessica Parker, not to mention the late Whitney Houston. Now, the stylish stars’ worlds have collided in the most fashionable way.

Zendaya just showed up to an event slaying a dress that SJP once wore as her character Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City: The Movie.”

Beyond that, Houston also wore a version of the ever-chic piece.

Zendaya & Sarah Jessica Parker Both Shone in the Flowery Dress

“And just like that… Zendaya is having a Carrie Bradshaw moment at the 2026 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards, donning the iconic Eugene Alexander flower dress from ‘Sex and the City: The Movie,’” Entertainment Tonight wrote in the caption of an Instagram post that showed photos of Zendaya in the dress beside pics of Parker in the memorable piece.

Indeed, Zendaya’s “white frock with gold embroidery is, in fact, an iconic design has lived a few different lives in the spotlight,” according to Vogue. “Notably, back in 2008, Zendaya’s Cachè dress was worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the opening sequence of the Sex and the City movie. You remember the scene: When Carrie Bradshaw saunters down a Manhattan sidewalk during the opening titles, and a flock of fashionistas proceed to fawn over her dress [flip to the video in the post above to see the scene]. The look, costume designed by Patricia Field, has since become one of the most memorable outfits from the film.”

“But it turns out,” per Vogue, “it is not the first time the floral dress has had a major celebrity moment.”

Whitney Houston Wore a Slightly Different Flower Dress

While “SATC” fans may recognize the floral dress from the movie, you might not have realized that there’s more history behind this particularly stylish and Hollywood-worthy item.

“Her Cachè dress is actually a replica of an original Eugene Alexander dress, and back in 1987, Whitney Houston was seen wearing it for a promotional shoot,” Vogue noted. Granted, the singer’s dress was slightly different thanks to it’s longer length (per People) and an extra flower piece on the shoulder.

Vogue explains that “[i]t’s a little known fact that the Sex and the City frock was, in fact, an homage piece—and Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach cleverly chose to revive it once again.”

Vogue also points out that “Zendaya is no stranger to rocking archival fashion, of course, so this latest red carpet win is simply another knockout to add to her collection. More than four decades later, it’s such a good dress that it has looked fabulous on every high-profile wearer.”
