Hallmark Star BJ Britt’s Quiet Acts of Christmas Kindness Will Completely MELT Your Heart (EXCLUSIVE)

Anyone who’s been around actor B.J. Britt for more than three seconds knows what a huge heart he has, including his fellow Hallmark stars. “Three Wisest Men” star Paul Campbell recently told EntertainmentNow, “I don’t think there’s a soul that doesn’t immediately fall in love with that guy,” calling Britt “the biggest, most lovable teddy bear.”

Britt’s mega-watt smile and warm hugs took the Hallmark universe by storm in 2025, as the “Tidings for the Season” star appeared at every fan event he could, from the Countdown to Christmas kickoff in Nashville to Christmas Con in New Jersey. But in addition to making heartfelt connections with fans, Britt’s been quietly helping those in need wherever he goes, from handing out gift cards to kids in need to taking a total stranger grocery shopping.

In between attending fan events from coast to coast, Britt has made time to help people and charities in the cities he’s visited. At the Countdown to Christmas kickoff in October, he was brought to tears while volunteering with his fellow stars at Nashville’s Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, which he said inspired him to find ways to reach more pediatric patients in 2026.

In early December, Britt appeared at the Marathon of Giving event hosted by Pay Away, a nonprofit that surprises families in need by paying off their back-to-school and holiday balances. On December 2, the organization partnered with the Neighborhood Nip Foundation to provide youth at Crete Academy and the Sisters of Watts with $200 gift cards for Christmas. They also surprised families with additional gift cards to ease their financial strain.

To hand out those gift cards to kids wasn’t just about the money, Britt told EntertainmentNow, but also about giving them hope for the future.

He explained, “I want to be a positive influence, to let teens know, ‘There are people that look like you that want to help you. There are people that look like you that want to give back, that want to make sure you’re in a position to win.’ I think they see someone that looks like them with a certain status, or they’re on TV, and these kids are like, ‘Wait what? You can do that?’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, we’re just like you!'”

While in New Jersey for Christmas Con in mid-December, Britt found another way to give back. When he stopped by a Ralph’s grocery store, Britt told EntertainmentNow, he noticed a man standing outside holding a sign, asking for help. Britt said his immediate reaction was to take the man shopping.

“It’s not hard — when you see people in need, you know, just do the right thing,” he reasoned. “Not because you can get anything from it, not because there’s cameras around. Just because that’s what we need to do for other people. Like, in my heart, when you hurt, I hurt.”

The man standing outside Ralph’s was stunned when Britt invited him inside to fill a basket with groceries, continually asking the actor if he was sure.

Britt recalled, “I was like, ‘Yes! Why are we having this conversation? Just get a basket and get whatever you want!’ So he’s getting chicken and stuff, and then he gets down this one aisle, and he turns and he said, ‘As a man, I shouldn’t be in this position’ and I said, ‘Listen, don’t cry. It’s totally fine. We all need help at some point in time, and I’m just grateful that I was there to be able to be a lifeline for you today.'”

Britt credits his parents for raising him and his sisters to be givers. Growing up in North Carolina, his family didn’t have a lot of material things, he told EntertainmentNow, but that never mattered.

“My mom would give her last dime to someone who needed it, and my dad would do the exact same,” Britt said. “But I remember when we grew up, we only had a cooler. We didn’t have a refrigerator. We had this green cooler that we put our groceries in, and I didn’t know any different. We were missing things like that, but we had love. That’s all that was shown in our house, was love.”

“Of course I wanted things when I was a kid, like every kid does,” Britt added. “But now, I don’t need anything for Christmas, right? I just love giving.”

Britt, who now lives in LA, said another fun way he gives back is by hand over high-end items — from clothes to shoes to furniture — to his barber, who loves to distributes the goods to young people in his neighborhood. One day, Britt got emotional noticing a teenager walk by the barber shop dressed from head-to-toe in clothes and shoes he had brought in earlier.

But for those who don’t have the ability to volunteer or deliver items directly to those in need, donating online to a reputable organization like Pay Away (which accepts donations here), can be just as impactful, he noted.

“Whatever you can do makes a difference,” Britt said. “If you can’t be there physically to see the smiles on their faces and feel the love in those rooms, if the donate button is all you can do right now, I’m all for it. It matters. And it’s so lined up with what Hallmark is all about, you know? It feels so beautiful and so amazing to be a part of a company that (prioritizes) that, and a family that’s so full of amazing human beings.”

  1. B.J., you are an angel! Thank you for giving to those in need! You have a heart of GOLD! Your loving and giving spirit is so inspiring! I was also raised by a giving single Mother, who instilled in us to always help our fellow man and neighbor. We were poor in money and material things, but rich in love and each other! So so many times growing up, I witnessed my mom giving children food, clothes and literally her last dollar. Now, If I have what I need, I’ll give my last dollar too. Thank you, B.J. for your kind, caring, and loving heart. I hope to see you stay with Hallmark for many many years! You are a great human and actor.
