New Hallmark Movie Might Bring Back a Popular Star …as a Ghost

Thanks to the fact that many Hallmark stars manage to capture the hearts of viewers, there are plenty of famous figures that fans would love to see return in future stories. Now, that’s just what might happen thanks to the fact that the channel has proposed to bring back one popular star in a beloved franchise … even though his character has already passed away.

If that’s piqued your interest, then you’ll surely be thrilled to find out that we’re referring to Chris Potter, who played Police Chief (and Sheriff) Jake Russell in the “Good Witch” movies.

Longtime fans of the “Good Witch” stories will be able to tell you that along with a show that ran for several seasons, there were also movies that starred Catherine Bell as the charmed and charming Cassie Nightingale. She appeared with Potter starting in 2008, when the first movie premiered, with seven additional films following.

*FYI: Spoiler ahead for anyone who hasn’t seen the “Good Witch” movies.*

Unfortunately for those who adored Potter’s character, before the show began, he was killed off-screen when he was shot in the line of duty. Because of that, Russell obviously wasn’t a part of the series or the movies that came after 2014’s “The Good Witch’s Wonder.” His death also made it clear that he wouldn’t be returning in any future “Good Witch” projects.

However, that might not be the case after all!

During a recent “Good Witch” panel at Big Lick Comic-Con in Roanoke, Virginia, that was moderated by Collider, Potter opened up about what happened after he left his “Good Witch” role behind, and did so by sharing “a humorous story” with the audience.

Potter noted that after he had been on “Heartland” for a year, he got a call from his agent telling him that those behind the scenes of the “Good Witch” wanted him to return. He recalled, “I said, ‘Well, I’m dead.’ And she said, ‘As a ghost.'”

Potter continued by telling his fans, “I said, ‘You mean like Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore? We’re gonna be making pottery together, or do I just stand in the corner of the bedroom all the time?'”

Although the “Good Witch” writers surely could have come up with a fabulous way for Russell to make a supernatural return, Potter wasn’t into the idea, and told the panel crowd, “I said, ‘No, I’m not interested.'”

But Wait… Potter May Have Changed His Mind!

During the “Good Witch” panel, Bell, the star of both the movies and the series, was also present and made a very exciting announcement about the future of the ongoing enchanted tale. She told the audience, “We’re hoping to bring back a movie at some point soon, and we’re hoping to take it back to the original ways that ‘Good Witch’ started.”

While that’s thrilling news, Potter added to the excitement when he brought up his own potential involvement in a new movie, saying, “Hey, if ‘Good Witch’ ever comes back, maybe we can have that ghost come back at a later time. Never say never.”
