Crystal Lowe Bravely Opens Up Her Chemotherapy: ‘Hanging on for Dear Life’

Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, 45, bravely opened up in an Instagram video about the impact that her chemotherapy has had on her body as she battles stage 3 breast cancer. Lowe, who starred in the hit Hallmark Mystery series “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” shared that in addition to mental fog, her skin has been the most affected by her treatments.

“I’m two weeks after chemo; this is my last one,” the actress said. “And I’m finding that now is when my skin is doing crazy stuff — like weird. I was super red, blotchy; my skin is really dry now. It’s strange because, to be honest, during chemo, I actually think my skin was kind of glowy.”

Crystal Lowe Shares How She Fell From a Dizzy Spell

The “Hearts of Christmas” actress added that she was “curious” if her irritated skin was a sign that her body was ridding itself of her chemo before explaining how, at one point, chemo made her so dizzy that she ended up falling to the ground.

“Also, I’m clumsy right now, like I fell, and I scratched my hand,” Lowe shared of the scary moment as she showed her injured palm.

Despite the unpredictable side effects of chemotherapy, the Hallmark star said that overall, she felt fairly well. “I feel good; I feel like the chemo is not surging through me anymore. I don’t feel as foggy, but I definitely think my body was just hanging on for dear life, and now it’s like, ‘No girl, you did not escape all the things that you have to deal with,’” Lowe said.

The “Children of the Corn: Revelation” star, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2025, captioned her video, emphasizing the changes that her body has felt. “2 weeks out from chemo and my body is being crazy now. Dry skin, reactions ect ect,” she wrote. “I can only assume that my body knows it’s done now and it’s just getting rid of everything. I’m so grateful to have a glam team making me feel cute during this #chemo #cancer #breastcancer.”

Lowe’s brave admittance of how the end of her chemo has taken a toll on her body comes just days before she is scheduled to undergo a double mastectomy on February 19. In a recent Instagram video, the actress shared that she had “mixed emotions” about her upcoming surgery, adding that she is “so sad to lose my boobs and also so happy to get rid of this cancer and actually get a pathology report so I actually know what’s going on.”

‘Warrior’ Crystal Lowe Receives Outpouring of Support

After sharing her story, Lowe was met with a great deal of support in the comments of her post, with fans uplifting her for being courageous as she faces her breast cancer head-on.

“You will get through all of this because you are a warrior! 🙏🌹❤️🌹🙏,” wrote one.

“You are lovely with your wig and so beautiful without it. What an amazing person you are and very courageous to share this with all of us ❤️,” said another.

“You look beautiful even through the unexpected, weird reactions you are having. Your body has gone through sooo much and is probably detoxifying from the chemo. Hope the reactions lessen and improve soon. Sending much love and healing vibes. ❤️,” added a third.
