Summer may be on its way out, but Hallmark star, Lacey Chabert has revealed her seasonal book choices for 2026. The popular actress’s choices are perfect for the last weeks of summer and she reveals which books her daughter is reading.
One choice is no real surprise, as she has been enjoying Jenn Mc Kinley’s “Paris is Always a Good Idea,” that has been adapted by Hallmark and in which she plays the lead role. The novel offers a front row seat to the life of professional fundraiser Chelsea Martin and her romantic life.
In the story, Chelsea finds herself in a rut, and travels to Paris, several years after she first vacationed there as a young adult. The novel tells how she connected with three interesting men during her first time there. Now, she is determined to find them – and herself.
What Else Is Lacey Chabert Reading This Summer?
HallmarkDuring the summer months, Lacey has also been reading “The Summer Beach” book series by Jan Moran. This is ideal fare for the warmer months as the books feature romantic endeavors at the beach, with strong female characters.
According to People in 10, the most recent book was released in May 2026 and bears the title “Seabreeze Garden.” The series’ protagonist, Ivy finds a forgotten plaque on the grounds of Seabreeze Inn. With some help from her sister, Ivy aims to reinvigorate the property’s gardens that used to thrive. Meanwhile, Ivy learns about a special woman that time has almost forgotten and decides to honor her legacy.
On the subject of the book series, it has become so popular that a 14th book is in the works, “Seabreeze Homecoming,” that is set for release in March 2027.
Lacey Introduces Daughter Julia To ‘Nancy Drew’
Hallmark/GettyBesides that, Chabert has been spending summer time reading Nancy Drew with her daughter, Julia Nehdar, who was born in 2017. It is clear that her mom is keen to introduce Julia to female-led reads by women authors, while they bond over shared reading time.
“I read to her, and I just got her into ‘Nancy Drew,’ since those were my favorite growing up, so she’s really enjoying that,” Chabert said.
It is unclear whether Lacey plans to read the whole series with her daughter, as they would have their work cut out for them if they do. The “Nancy Drew Mysteries” series by Carolyn Keene consists of 175 books, released between 1930 and 2003.
While Nancy Drew is ideal reading for Chabert’s daughter, Julia is likely too young for “Paris is Always a Good Idea” right now. However, when it comes to Hallmark projects, Lacey told People in 2025, “It makes me happy to work on things my daughter can enjoy.”
With her mom always busy with new Hallmark movies or series, there is sure to be another adapted from a book for Julia to enjoy.
