While Hallmark viewers are getting caught up on the second season of “The Chicken Sisters,” Lea Thompson has been busy with a different project. Soon, everyone will be able to watch the actress’s longtime pet project, “Anna Pigeon.”
On September 9, the Hallmark star appeared on the podcast “On with Mario Daily,” where she gave Mario Lopez the scoop on the current season of her popular series. After demonstrating her extensive experience with southern accents, she began discussing her upcoming series, “Anna Pigeon.”
While she won’t be acting in it, she’s one of the executive producers and is directing the episodes. Premiering on USA Network, the show is very dear to Thompson. It also demonstrates how you should never give up on your dreams.
Dinner With the Author, a Stunning Cast, and an Epic Start
While chatting with Lopez, Thompson revealed that she’d just come from directing the first episode of the new series.
“It’s ‘Anna Pigeon,’ it’s based on these books written by Nevada Barr,” she explained. “They’re mysteries about a woman who works as a park ranger, and she solves mysteries.”
“We have this amazing, amazing cast, and this incredible actress, Tracy Spiridakos, plays Anna Pigeon,” she continued. “And what was really fun about it was that the very first day of camera tests, the author accidentally was in Calgary, where we were shooting, so we got to take her out to dinner. And since I had owned the books for 15 years, and every year I was like, ‘I promise you, I’ll get it made, give me the rights again.’ I was so happy to be like, ‘I finally — I did it, okay, I did it.’
For Lea Thompson, ‘Anna Pigeon’ is a Dream Come True
While Thompson has been busy promoting the new season of “The Chicken Sisters,” she’s also kept fans informed about the progress on “Anna Pigeon.” Her last update was on July 31.
“Hey guys, Lea here. I have some very exciting news,” she said in an Instagram video. “I have been working on a project called “Anna Pigeon” based on the Nevada Barr mystery novels for 15 years! And it didn’t get made, and I kept fighting and fighting, and it’s starting shooting tomorrow! I’m the producer — the executive producer — and I’m directing the pilot. That’s right, I’m directing the pilot.”
“Anyways, hard work. Dreams can come true if you just keep at it,” she added. “I teamed up with some amazing producers that wouldn’t give up, and I’ve got a storyboard, I’ve got call sheets, I’ve got a crew, and an amazing cast. I can’t wait for you to meet them.”
