Like every season of the Hallmark series “The Way Home,” season 4, which premiered last Sunday, April 19, started off with quite a few revelations. Among them was the series unlocking a whole new chapter as Chyler Leigh‘s Kat arrives in 1925 for the very first time.
And, ahead of the second episode of the season on Sunday, April 26, the Hallmark show is teasing what’s to come.
Kat Attends a Glamorous Party After Arriving in the 1920s
In a clip shared by the series on Instagram, viewers get to a see a sneak peek of Kat’s investigation into the 1920s. She’s accompanied by young Fern Landry (Bianca Melchior), who was there at the end of episode 1 when Kat get out of the pond.
In the clip, Fern and Kat are attending a party at the Goodwin’s mansion, Lingermore. Fern is wearing a beaded headwrap, a long pearl necklace and a blue sequined dress while Kat is rocking a deep purple dress with matching dark lips.
“So our host, tell me about him,” Kat asks in the beginning of the clip. “What’s he all about?”
Fern then shares some kind words about Grayson Goodwin, a new character this season played by Gabriel Hogan.
“Grayson’s a gem,” she says. “He fought in the war, won a medal, you know? And when he came home, Lingermore was a wreck, the army used it as a hospital you see.”
“So, Gray renovated, made it his own, now the work is complete,” she says. “It’s a good reason to celebrate.”
Fern then picks up two cocktails and hands one over to Kat. “Out there it’s illegal, but in here, Prohibition doesn’t exist,” she says, before the two of them clink their glasses in cheers.
“New Temperance Inspector’s due to arrive soon, but whoever he is, he’ll learn the ropes,” Fern continues. “Comes in hot like the rest of them, but this town will cool him off right quick.”
The Temperance Inspector, named Cliff Kane, is another new addition to the show. He’ll be played by Dan Jeannotte.
Also in the scene, the two new friends walk to a specific painting on a wall. “She’s perfect, isn’t she?” Fern asks. “Yes, she is,” Kat agrees.
“This might all be old hat to someone from the future,” Fern says. “Is your time as grand as this? Grander?”
“Definitely not,” Kat replies. “Oh, pity!” Fern says at the end.
Kat’s Adventure into the 1920s Is Just Getting Started
HallmarkWhile the first episode of season 4 only had a few seconds of Kat in the 1920s, this season will certainly use that timeframe to tell an important part of the puzzle, including what happened to Elliot’s (Evan Williams) mom.
As a reminder, in the first episode of the series Kat, Elliot and Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) have a breakthrough moment when they realize that Fern’s song, where she sings “65 in 25,” is referring to Elliot’s mom Tessa, who was 65 years old in 1925.
After their realization, Kat becomes determined to travel back to the ’20s, talk to Fern, and finally get answers Elliot has been looking for his entire life.
After all, prior to the Landrys figuring out Tessa had time-traveled, Elliot had presumed his mom just left him as a baby without a trace. Now, he’ll finally get some answers.
