The story sees real-life singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson flex both her musical and acting skills as a character named Debbie Taylor who just so happens to be a pop star. However, she’s not exactly at the top of her game and “is on the verge of losing everything – including her freedom,” according to Hallmark.

Because of her sticky situation, Debbie flees to the suburbs of Ohio, and unexpectedly ends up working with a group of teens who may not exactly be obvious stars, but definitely have talent. As she teaches them what she knows and tries to regain her former stardom, she discovers that there might be more to life than just the spotlight.

‘Wedding of Dreams’ Is the ‘Summer of Dreams’ Sequel

Did you know that there is a “Summer of Dreams” sequel? That’s right! On September 8, 2018, “Wedding of Dreams” premiered and brought back both Gibson and Gant as well as Hutton, McNamara, Edwards and Tremblett.

Taking place a year after we saw Debbie find renewed success thanks to her song “Wonderland,” she is “[n]ow living in a small town, [has] found true love and left the music industry behind to teach kids the value of their own musical talents,” according to Hallmark.

While that sounds like she has found her happily-ever-after, Hallmark notes that she ends up facing a difficult decision that could change the rest of her life “when her manager begins to pull her back into the limelight to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her first single, ‘Out of the Blue,'” forcing her “to decide which will come first – music or love?”
