Alison Victoria is opening up about a side of her life fans don’t often get to see. In her latest Substack newsletter, the “Windy City Rehab” star reflected on her recent trip to Morocco with boyfriend Brandt Andersen and his three adult children, admitting she was “a little nervous” before embarking on their first international vacation together as one big family.
Alison’s Getaway
The HGTV favorite released her first official Substack article to her subscribers, giving a detailed recount of her recent African adventure.
“Morocco has been on my list for years, but if I’m being honest, I can’t really take credit for that,” she shared on Tuesday, August 4. “From the day we met, Brandt has been telling me, ‘You have to go to Morocco.’ He’d been before, and he was convinced it would light me up creatively. When someone who knows you that well tells you a place is going to change the way you see the world, you listen.”
After already having a pre-planned cruise to Alaska on her calendar, the “Sin City Rehab” star made a last-minute decision to pivot their travel plans.
“And… the trip wasn’t just me and Brandt, either. We brought his three kids (who are somehow adults now) and one of their wives,” she wrote. “Traveling with any group always guarantees a little chaos, and memories you could never plan for. Looking back, I can’t imagine experiencing Morocco any other way.”
Victoria continued, “This was the first trip we’d ever taken together as one big family, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous. I’m the girlfriend. I don’t have kids. And while they’re technically adults now, stepping into someone else’s family dynamic, especially on an international trip, isn’t exactly something you get to rehearse.”
Despite her nerves, the “Sin City Rehab” star called Morocco “one of the best trips I’ve ever taken.”
Alison and Brandt
Victoria previously opened up about meeting the love of her life at a wellness retreat after having hit “rock bottom.”
“I was in this relationship for eight years. It was just not for me, but I just kept staying in it and hoping for a different result,” she explained during an April appearance on the “Wife of the Party” podcast. “I was like at this breaking point where I’m like the one thing in my life I can’t get right is love. What am I doing wrong?”
The beloved designer decided to step away from the spotlight to attend a wellness retreat.
“I was not there to meet anyone,” she explained. “In fact, at the Hoffman process, if you have feelings for people or anyone in there, you have to go talk — They say it, ‘If you have feelings for anybody while you’re here, you have to come talk to us because that you’re derailing your process, right?'”
Victoria and Brandt met while both attending the retreat, but only formed a platonic relationship. The two kept in touch after the process and “became so close as friends.”
“But after talking to him for a while, I fell in love with him. It’s the most beautiful story,” she gushed.
