Egypt Sherrod Shares a Life Update After Surgery
On January 22, Sherrod took to Instagram to give fans an update about why she hasn’t been posting as much as usual on social media.
“You might have noticed … maybe … that I hadn’t been as active on social media over the past several weeks,” she noted in the video of the since-deleted post. “And it’s not because I didn’t miss you, and of course, I love these educational videos and some of the creative pieces I’ve been seeing.”
She continued, “It’s just that, after I had my surgery, I was literally off social for five weeks. And as I was healing, I had this peace that I hadn’t had since before I’d been all over these social media platforms.”
“And I enjoyed it,” Sherrod shared. “It reminded me of, you know how our elders talk about the ‘good old days,’ … but the good old days before social media where you could just be alone with your thoughts and not always looking at something, not always having your neck down … and I just love that.”
So, she took a break.
“But then, of course, as I said, you just can’t stay away,” she shared with a laugh.
Sherrod noted that it’s important to “set limits and honor them,” adding that, “when your soul starts to feel heavy, step away.”
She added, “If I need to take a break, I’m just going to disappear for a while. But it is imperative for our emotional and our spiritual mental health. Use these platforms — do not let them use you.”
In the caption, she further explained how to rise above the “scroll addiction” with helpful hints about being “intentional with your time, “setting limits,” and taking breaks.
