HGTV fans have been graced with decades of hopeful homebuyers searching for their dream abode. But fan-favorite “House Hunters” has been without a host for more than 15 years…until now!
Fans finally got a glimpse of longtime narrator Andromeda Dunker when she made her on-screen debut on “House Hunters.”
‘House Hunters’ Narrator Makes On-Screen Debut
Dunker became the first host of “House Hunters” since former host Suzanne Whang’s tragic passing in 2019.
“After narrating thousands of #HouseHunters episodes, Andromeda Dunker is making her on-screen debut,” HGTV announced via Instagram on Thursday, March 5.
The network revealed, alongside a throwback image of Dunker in a voiceover booth, that the beloved narrator would appear on the Friday, March 6, episode, which was aptly titled “Here Comes the Host.”
Dunker is “leaving the studio and hitting the streets to play along and guess which home an engaged couple will choose in Southern California,” the episode’s synopsis read.
The episode, which was filmed in Dunker’s hometown of Los Angeles, had many similarities to her own experience as a first-time homebuyer.
“Hey; I’m Andromeda Dunker,” she said on the Friday night episode. “I’m the voice of House Hunters and I’ve also been the house hunter in L.A. — I know how hard the market is. But this time I’m going to step out of the booth and play along. I want to see which one these guys pick! It’s gonna be interesting.”
Dunker continued, “When my husband, Joshua, and I were buying our first place in Los Angeles, we were planning our wedding at the same time, much like these guys in nearby Agoura Hills. I’ve been in Emilie’s shoes; it is so stressful!”
Who Is Andromeda Dunker?
Dunked joined “House Hunters” in 2009, taking over after Suzanne Whang’s exit due to her battle with breast cancer, according to the Washington Post.
“I’m not really with you, but I am leading you through the journey as a narrator,” Dunker said in a 2017 interview with Buzzfeed News. “That’s kind of how I see it. If I were to come out more as a personality of my own, then it kind of breaks it. I’m not sure it would work as well.”
Ahead of her on-screen debut, Dunker took to social media to share her excitement with fans.
“After 17 years voicing behind the mic of the House Hunters franchise — I’m stepping out of the VO booth, to give my personal thoughts, as the on-camera host!” she captioned a teaser video. “Sooo excited! My doggies have cameos!”
After the special episode aired, fans joined in on the excitement in the comment section of her post.
“It was so great to see the actor who narrates the episodes! She has the perfect voice and I always enjoy hearing her!!” one follower wrote.
“I just finished this episode. I’m so freaking excited to see the face of the voice I love. Just wonderful 🤩🤗❤️” another added.
A third chimed in, “It was so cool to see the woman behind the voice! You were great!!”
