Dave Marrs’ Touching Mother’s Day Video Leaves Jenny in Tears
On May 10, Dave used his weekly Instagram ShopTalk video to shine a spotlight on moms for Mother’s Day. The HGTV star also shared the challenge of celebrating the day without his mom, who passed away in 2025.
“For episode 16 of ShopTalk, I want to raise a glass to all of the mothers out there,” Dave wrote in the caption. “Especially my mother, Donna Marrs, who passed away last fall.”
He continued, “I was blessed to have a wonderful mother for 46 years of my life. She never missed a game, never missed an opportunity to say she loved me, never missed an event that my kids had. She did all of this with a full-time job, three other siblings, and four other grandchildren.”
“I had such an incredible example when it came to choosing Jenny Marrs,” he added.
In the video, Dave noted, “I want to celebrate Mother’s Day and talk about all of the incredible mothers out there.”
He explained that he “spent the day just doing really anything that Jenny Marrs needed,” including letting her sleep in, planting plants, and handling all of the laundry, cooking, and cleaning with the kids.
“Also, this was the first Mother’s Day without my mom,” he noted. “She passed away about six months ago. So, you know, for 46 years of my life, she was the first person I called on today and wished her a happy Mother’s Day.”
He called her “an incredible woman,” noting how she had a full-time career working in a hospital but always showed up to support her kids.
“We were so very very blessed to have had such an incredible mother,” the HGTV star added.
Dave also gushed about his wife, calling her his “greatest partner,” “a hard worker,” and “dreamer” who “deserves to be doted on.”
Jenny commented on the post, sharing how moved she was by Dave’s words.
“Now I’m bawling again. Thank you and what a beautiful tribute to your incredible mom,” she wrote. “The very best mom and mother in law and nana!! The world was better with her in it. I love you babe and am so thankful for you! ❤️😭”
