Jenny Marrs shared highlights from her Mother’s Day spent with her husband, kids, and sweet animals. The HGTV star also reflected on celebrating the holiday for the first time without her mother-in-law, Donna, and her grandmother.
Jenny Marrs Shares Touching Post About Celebrating Mother’s Day After Family Losses
On May 10, Marrs took to Instagram to share the sadness and joy of the day.
“It has been a sweet, slow, beautiful Mother’s Day,” she wrote in the caption. “It’s our first one without Donna. I hold her so close every day, but especially today. We will gather with family later to celebrate her because she loved this day and always wanted us to be together.”
Marrs continued, “It’s the first one without my Nana too. I went to call her this morning and caught myself. That’s the thing about life: when you’ve experienced great loss, you recognize how every ordinary moment is exceedingly beautiful.”
“And motherhood? Well, when you spent years praying desperately for the exact days you’re currently living in, you recognize how exceedingly and abundantly blessed you are,” Marrs noted.
She also pointed out “how fleeting these years under your roof are” while raising kids.
“You try your best and you pour out as much of yourself and your love as you can,” she shared. “You want to fill their cups to overflowing so they can go out into this great big world and leave their mark. Even on the days when it feels mundane and ordinary and repetitious, you know your job is so incredibly important.”
“You’re in charge of shaping the hearts of these little people whose names are carved on the hand of the Creator of the universe. You get to love on them and cheer them on and prepare their meals and wash their laundry, all the while praying they will be ready to go out and do the good works prepared for them before the beginning of time,” Marrs added.
The HGTV star also noted that her song choice for the post was perfect.
“This song is one of my favorites because it sums it all up: This life ain’t always wonderful, but what a wonderful life it is,” she wrote.
