Jenny Marrs Shares the Verse That Gives Her Peace
On March 13, Marrs took to Instagram to share a verse she turns to in trying times. The HGTV star noted that she loves the way “verses that I’ve read dozens of times can jump off the page in a fresh way.”
“Today, it was a singular sentence tucked within the larger story happening in 1 Samuel 25,” she explained.
“For context: This chapter is set during a time when David and his men are hiding out from King Saul in the wilderness of Maon. There, they helped to protect the sheep and shepherds of a local rich man,” Marrs shared. “In return, they asked the man for provisions. The man refuses and insults them instead. Things escalate quickly and the man’s wife, Abigail, intervenes after one of the servants comes to her and explains how honorable David and his men are.”
She continued, “The verse that struck me was verse 16, when the servant describes David and his men to Abigail: ‘In fact, day and night they were like a wall of protection to us and the sheep.'”
“I love this visual and I find peace in knowing that despite what uncertainty and fear the news of the day slings our way, we can trust in the fact the One who is greater than David is certainly — day and night — a steadfast wall of protection for His kids,” Marrs shared.
