Jenny Marrs is squeezing in time for an enriching hobby — learning Italian! The HGTV star shared that learning the language is not without many challenges, however.
Jenny Marrs Shares Determination With Personal Challenge
On March 20, Marrs took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of the family’s new lambs as well as a story about learning Italian.
“Every Friday morning, I hop on a video call with my Italian tutor, Giada. She is ever patient and encouraging despite the fact that I am busy all week and forget to practice (other than a podcast listen here or there) and then I have to switch my brain over on Friday morning to Italian mode,” Marrs explained.
She noted, “It’s not perfect but I’ve always wanted to learn Italian and I refuse to give up despite it being hard and inconvenient.”
“I sometimes get frustrated with my progress but then I catch myself understanding phrases or celebrating little victories like the time over Christmas break when I made a reservation on the phone (such a huge deal for me IYKYK) and I realize I am absorbing this new knowledge,” the HGTV star shared.
“‘Piano, piano’ … as Giada always reminds me. Slowly, slowly,” Marrs noted.
She added, “Anyhow, this little ramble started because I wanted to share this adorable photo of Hazel and Walter and tell y’all to have a great weekend which made me think of the phrase in Italian: Buon fine settimana! Literally, translated ‘Happy end of the week!’ I love that. Happy end of the week, indeed.”
Fans flooded the comments section with messages of encouragment.
“Definitely give yourself some grace learning another language,” one fan wrote. “It’s hard when you’re not immersed in the language all the time but it will come and you’ll know when you start dreaming in Italian!”
“Be patient with yourself. It’s difficult learning a new language,” another fan noted.
One fan cheered her on, writing, “Keep it up! Learning another language is so good for us mentally.”
Marrs Family Welcomes New Animals to the Farm
On March 18, Marrs announced the newest additions to their farm — two adorable lambs!
“When our neighbor, Mr. Tommy, called to let me know he has two bottle lambs in need of care, I didn’t hesitate to say yes,” she explained. “Now, they’ve taken up residence in the newly constructed chicken coop (the chicks are still too little to move out here so this is a perfect spot).”
Marrs continued, “I’m daring to hope that these two will bring joy to our farm after so much loss. We didn’t have a lambing season this year (for the first time in ten years) because we lost BaaBaa and her babies. And, you may remember that two years ago, I fell hard for my bottle-baby, Tommy, and we lost him to illness. 💔”
“So, today, we welcome Walter and Hazel to the farm with expectant hope for the joy they’ll bring despite the distinct possibility for sorrow,” the HGTV star added. “I prayed over these two as I drove them up the street to our home: May they stay safe and healthy and, most of all, thank you, Lord for new life, new mercies and fresh reminders that our hope is in you alone (Psalm 39:7)!”
