“Good Bones” star Mina Starsiak Hawk is getting ready to make her HGTV return more than two years after her hit show ended, but admits there’s one thing she doesn’t miss about having her own show.
The One Thing Mina Starsiak Hawk Doesn’t Miss About ‘Good Bones’
HGTVAhead of her debut on HGTV’s “Rock the Block,” Starsiak Hawk reflected on her time filming “Good Bones.”
“I miss everything other than the interpersonal issues,” she told People in an interview published Wednesday, January 14. “I loved making the show.”
After eight years of filming the long-running series, Starsiak Hawk announced in August 2023 that the show was coming to an end.
“When I started, the real estate market was a different world, construction costs were different,” she told the outlet. “And towards the last couple seasons, it was just the margins were so tight. There just wasn’t really money to be made and that was stressful.”
She continued, “I never set out to make TV, but I enjoy it and ‘Rock the Block’ is not my money and it’s not my house. So it’s just the fun parts.”
Why Did ‘Good Bones’ End?
Following the series finale in October 2023, Starsiak Hawk spilled details on her relationship with her mother and former business partner, Karen E. Laine, on her podcast, “Mina AF.”
The mother-daughter duo started their Indianapolis-based company, Two Chicks and a Hammer, in 2007. Laine stepped back from the company in 2019, but continued to appear on their hit show until it wrapped.
While announcing the series was ending, Starsiak Hawk revealed she and her mother were “not in a great place.”
“My brother Tad and I aren’t in a great place. My brother William and I are in a kind of like nonexistent place. It’s complicated without even being complicated,” she added at the time.
More than two years after publicly revealing their family drama, the home renovation star announced that they are “all amicable.”
“It took us a lot of time to get there, so I think it takes a lot of time to kind of get out of it as well,” she told People in January. “We were all together for the holidays…We’re not like best friends that braid each other’s hair on Saturday nights or anything, but no, it’s good.”
While Laine went back to her career as a lawyer, Starsiak Hawk is gearing up for her HGTV return in season 7 of “Rock the Block.”
