Anna Faris is getting candid about the doubts she experienced after becoming a mom. The “Scary Movie” star recently admitted that she questioned whether she was cut out for motherhood and sometimes felt like she didn’t “fit in” with other moms. More than a decade later, Faris has a different perspective as she watches her 13-year-old son, Jack, grow up. Faris shares Jack with her ex-husband, actor Chris Pratt.
‘Messing Up’ as a Mom
In an interview with E! News at the August 7 premiere of “Spa Weekend” in Las Vegas, Faris opened up about some of the insecurities she felt during the early years of motherhood.
The “Mom” star said, “I didn’t always feel like I fit in with the mothers of the parents of his friends. I always felt like I was kind of messing up somehow.”
Because of those feelings, Faris started questioning whether motherhood would come naturally to her or not.
She explained, “I didn’t know if I was just fundamentally well suited to be a mom. I just didn’t know.”
While she doubted herself at first, Faris went on to say she now feels fortunate to have the chance to raise Jack.
Faris said, “And so I’m an older mom, and I’m so lucky. I’m just so lucky that I have this incredible, fascinating boy.”
Proud of the Teenager He Has Become
The “Scary Movie” star went on to explain how she is so proud of the kid her son has become. She said that she has learned just how much her son understands about the world around him.
The actress told E! News that her teenage son “knows a whole lot more than I thought her did.” She is especially proud of one certain quality Jack has.
Faris said, “I am proud that he has a deep sense of justice.” She added that she finds her son to be “just fascinating.”
In August 2012, Faris and Pratt welcomed their son into the world. The former couple married in 2009 before announcing their separation in 2017.
The divorce was finalized in 2018. Faris would later marry cinematographer Michael Barrett in 2021. Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019.
Pratt Shares Special Experience With Son
Anna isn’t the only one opening up about Jack. Pratt spoke with Extra back in March about bringing his oldest child with him on a trip to Tokyo while promoting “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.”
Pratt said it was even more special having Jack with him because of his son’s interest in Japan.
The actor said, “It’s surreal. It’s special for me because I brought my son, who’s 13, and he loves Japanese food and sushi and Japanese culture.”
It was an even more special trip for Pratt because not only did they get to explore another part of the world together, but he also got to share his professional life with his son.
Pratt added, “To be able to share this part of my life with him and to explore this part of the world with him makes it really special.”
