Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton made their relationship Instagram official on Monday. Now the world knows exactly how Kanye West feels about it.
Just one day after Hamilton posted his now-viral Tokyo Drift video featuring Kim riding shotgun in a red Ferrari F40, sources close to Kanye West spoke to Page Six and the rapper has nothing but good things to say about the seven-time Formula 1 champion. For a man who has made his feelings about Kim’s past relationships very publicly known, this reaction carries serious weight.
“This is a good thing,” an insider close to West told the outlet. “Kanye isn’t questioning ‘Is Lewis a good person?’ He’s a sweet, smart person, a good person and an incredible athlete.”
Kanye Is ‘At Peace’ With Lewis Around His Kids
Kim shares four children with Kanye West, North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6. Hamilton has already spent real time with three of them. Last month in Tokyo, Saint, Chicago and Psalm joined Kim on the Japan trip while Hamilton prepared for the Japanese Grand Prix. Sources close to West told Page Six that Hamilton and Saint were even spotted shopping together at SNKRDUNK during the trip.
Kanye was not on the trip. But his feelings about Hamilton being around his kids could not be more different from his reaction to Kim’s past relationships.
Page Six’s insider put it directly: “He feels at peace right now with Lewis being around his kids. He was trustful about that. He loves Kim in a way that he wants the best for her wellbeing.”
A Very Different Reaction Than Before

Their friendship survived both relationships ending and quietly grew from there.

Then came Tokyo and Monday’s Ferrari video. E! News broke down the full moment. Hamilton drifting through the streets of Tokyo, smoke clearing and Kim appearing in the passenger seat with a massive smile, saying simply: “That’s insane.”
Kim herself said it best on “The Kardashians.” “I’m the biggest hopeless romantic,” she shared. “When the right person comes along, I’ll be so ready and everything will be fine.”
