Fans are heartbroken to learn of the tragic passing of KISS guitarist Ace Frehley. He was 74.
Frehley’s death was announced on Thursday, October 16, not long after it was reported that he was on life support with a brain bleed. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Monique Frehley. Here are five fast facts to know about her.
1. Monique Frehley Is His Only Child
Monique is Ace’s only child, and she was born in 1980. She confirmed his death in a statement released to the media via Ace’s official Instagram account. The message expressed her heartbreak.
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth,” the statement reads. “We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
2. They Have Matching Tattoos
Ace and Monique shared a close bond and even celebrated this with matching tattoos. The pair showed off their body art in an Instagram post in May 2024. “Got matching ‘Ace’ tattoos with my daughter Monique back on tour in 2023!” Ace wrote in the caption of a photo that shows him posing alongside his daughter. “Family ink, rock ‘n’ roll style! Thinkin’ about getting another.”
3. Her Mother Is Jeanette Trerotola
Ace and Jeanette Trerotola were married in New York City in 1978. The couple welcomed their daughter Monique in 1980. They were married for seven years, but their relationship did not last.
Ace discussed what went wrong in his 2012 memoir, “No Regrets.”
“A fresh start was in order and part of the process involved legally separating from my wife,” he wrote, Us Weekly reports. “Jeanette had decided to move on, and was involved in a relationship with a local guy.”
4. Ace Called Monique Frehley ‘Lovely’
Ace gave a rare glimpse into his relationship with his daughter in a post on Facebook on October 25, 2021. The collage of photos shows them at various ages. In the caption, he celebrated their bond. “Me & My Lovely Daughter Monique hanging out over the years! Lots of Fun!!” he wrote.
5. Ace Was a Proud Dad
On June 16, 2024, Ace posted a throwback photo on Instagram of himself and Monique, days after she was born. In the caption, he celebrated fatherhood. “The greatest gig I’ve ever played. Happy Father’s Day to all,” he wrote.
