Latto managed to successfully hide her first pregnancy for several months before sharing the big news with the world. According to the femcee, however, this was far from easy to pull off. During a recent interview with “The Breakfast Club,” she opened up about her decision to start being less private about her personal life, admitting that certain things are next to impossible to keep under wraps.
“I feel like once you start reaching different milestones in life, you can only be so private,” she explained. “I got a baby, I can only be so private.”
The new mother went on to reflect on a performance she did in Japan before making her pregnancy public. Only a few people on her team knew she was expecting, but it didn’t take long for fans to start putting two and two together. Pregnancy rumors quickly began running rampant online, and eventually, they started to reach the people closest to her.

“I was pregnant. I was in Japan crying in my room,” she recalled. “My grandma called my mama like, ‘Is Alyssa pregnant?'”
Latto was disappointed that she didn’t get to tell loved ones about her baby-to-be before the internet chatter began, but she didn’t let the cat out of the bag just yet. She even tried to do a bit of damage control with a cheeky Instagram post. In it, she insinuated that her budding bump was simply a ramen-induced food baby.
Her pregnancy wasn’t the only thing the “Big Mama” rapper was keeping quiet about at the time, either. She had also yet to go public about her relationship with the father of her child, 21 Savage. Rumors that the two of them were an item swirled for quite some time before they finally decided to confirm fans’ suspicions.
Latto hinted at her relationship with her UK-born boo on a collab with Nemzzz last summer. They were later spotted enjoying a tropical vacation together. A few months after that, 21 Savage dropped a hint of his own on Hunxho’s album, FOR HER 2. He rapped about how he “fell in love with the cheetah print,” which many assumed was a nod to Latto’s signature style.

Now that her bundle of joy has finally arrived, however, the couple seems unafraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves. Latto announced her daughter’s arrival in an Instagram post last month and gave her followers their first glimpse at the little one with a series of adorable photos last week.
The birth of Latto’s first child came just a few days after the release of the 27-year-old’s fourth studio album, “Big Mama.” On it, she explores themes of motherhood, fame, drama, love, and more. The LP boasts features from the likes of GloRilla, Teyana Taylor, Doja Cat, and Mariah The Scientist, among others. It serves as the follow-up to her 2024 project, “Sugar Honey Iced Tea.”
