Popular French television series “Call My Agent!” is returning with a movie adaptation. The upcoming Netflix release will reunite stars Camille Cottin, Laure Calamy, Thibault de Montalembert of the talent agency ASK, and the streaming service has given fans a glimpse of the film in its first trailer.
“Call My Agent! The Movie” picks up the action some five years after the events of the fourth season, which ended in 2020. The movie is intended to act as a sequel to the original series, while also serving as the lead-in to a fifth season of the show.
Missing from the trailer, though, is George Clooney. The actor is among a group of celebrities who have been announced to be appearing in the film. However, Netflix has kept his role under wraps and he has been conspicuously left out of the first trailer.
Andréa’s New Career Quickly Becomes a Disaster
“Call My Agent! The Movie” follows much of the original cast who have now moved onto new careers following the closure of the ASK talent agency. The old group gets back together when Andréa Martel is set to begin filming a new movie and her lead actor drops out of the project. With chaos threatening to derail the production, she turns to her former team to get the movie back on track.
The trailer brings the familiar humor and emotional tension that was ever present in the comedy-drama series throughout its four-season run. Series creator Fanny Herrero has also returned, co-writing the movie with Lison Daniel.
Series creator Fanny Herrero co-wrote the movie with Lison Daniel, while French filmmaker Émilie Noblet directs. “Call My Agent! The Movie” is due to premiere on Netflix on September 10.
George Clooney Is Joining ‘Call My Agent!’
Originally titled “Dix pour cent,” the name was changed for the international market following Netflix’s purchase of the series in 2015. The show largely followed the show business agents and their relationships with the actors they represented. For the most part, these celebrities were played by their real-life counterparts who portrayed exaggerated versions of themselves.
So “Call My Agent! has a strong tradition of celebrity cameos and guest appearances, making the fact that George Clooney is set to have a role in the upcoming film not all that surprising. His casting was confirmed when the film was first announced, but there has been little information about whether he will play himself and what sort of role he will have in the movie.
Laetitia Casta, Vincent Macaigne and Laurent Lafitte are also among the stars appearing in the movie alongside the main returning cast.
The creators intend “Call My Agent! The Movie” to act as a springboard for a proposed fifth season of the series. Pre-production in the new season has not yet begun, though, with Herrero stating that the team wants to finish work on the film before moving onto the sequel series.
