There’s been a long wait for Netflix’s spy thriller “Black Doves” Season 2, but the wait is coming to an end. The streamer has quietly confirmed that the season will arrive before 2026 comes to an end, and no, fans won’t need to wait two whole years for the next part of the story.
While the Edinburgh TV Festival was heavily focused on projects involving Kate Winslet and Anya Taylor-Joy, there was a brief update about its Keira Knightley series, “Black Doves.” The season is locked in for November 2026.
When Will ‘Black Doves’ Season 2 Premiere?
GettyDespite a strong start when the first season was released in December 2024 and a quick renewal, filming for the new season didn’t start until the summer of 2025. That made it clear that it would be more than a year’s wait for the next episodes, and we’re almost waiting two years. “Black Doves” Season 2 will be released on Nov. 5, 2026.
Those attending the festival got to see a first look at the new season, according to What’s On Netflix. So far, a teaser or a trailer hasn’t been released, but that’s not too surprising. With the news only just breaking, Netflix will likely release promotional footage within the next few weeks, bringing a two-month push to market the show.
However, there are concerns that the streaming giant will overlook the marketing. After all, the announcement of the season was relatively buried underneath other major UK releases, and the subscription platform has a habit of overshadowing sophomore releases. Many hadn’t realized the likes of “Beef,” “Nobody Wants This,” and “Running Point” had all released their second seasons in 2026.
What to Expect During ‘Black Doves’ Season 2
While there aren’t all the details just yet, the second season is set to pick up off the back of the Season 1 finale, which was full of espionage, betrayal, and intrigue. Helen, played by Knightley, was invested in the covert organization known as the Black Doves, not batting an eyelid about betraying her country’s biggest secrets.
However, there is much more on the line for her personally during the sophomore run. Her husband, Wallace (Andrew Buchan), is now getting ready to run for prime minister. It opens her up to more information, but it also puts her freedom at greater risk if she’s caught.
On top of that, there are issues within the Black Doves themselves. Mrs. Reed, Helen’s handler, played by Sarah Lancashire, is trapped in a plot designed to completely undermine her and oust her. It makes it harder for Helen to get a job done, and she’ll need to figure out if there is anyone she can trust. Who can you trust when it comes to an organization of spies and hitmen?
The fall is now shaping up to be a strong and exciting season for Netflix viewers, whether you want espionage, comedy, or romance. “The Hunting Wives” Season 2 is also coming in November 2026, and “The Gentlemen” Season 2 is kicking off the fall in style on Sept. 3. Also look out for “Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story,” “Hollywood Arts,” and “The Diplomat” Season 4!
