It’s easy to think about the advantages of being a famous actor’s child. But there are some unique negative experiences. Adam Scott’s daughter, Francesca “Frankie” Scott, is getting into the family business. The “Parks and Recreation” star revealed an embarrassing experience from her acting class that involved his audition for “The Office.”
Adam Scott’s Audition Was Used To Learn What Not To Do
GettyScott, 53, spoke about his 18-year-old daughter on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Aug. 13. He explained that his daughter’s teacher didn’t know she was his daughter, which made a class exercise awkward for her.
“On the first day of one of her acting classes, her teacher kind of gathered everybody and put up a screen, and he was like, ‘Okay.’ And he showed video of my audition for ‘The Office,’ and then he showed video of John Krasinski’s audition for ‘The Office,'” the actor said. “And then he put it to the class like, ‘Okay. Let’s discuss why he got the job, and he didn’t.'”
The actor joked that he was glad he was the subject of what not to do in an acting class. His daughter didn’t feel the same way.
“She was mortified, and when she was walking out, the teacher stopped her, he’s like, ‘Hey, um, do you know one of them? Like, what…’ and then he kind of put two and two together with her last name, and he felt terrible,” he claimed.
‘The Office’ Released More Auditions With Famous Actors
“The Office” released audition videos from famous actors who didn’t get the role. Scott and John Cho auditioned for Jim Halpert with a scene of the character explaining his role at Dunder Mifflin. He then spaced out and admits that he’s bored.
Seth Rogen, Patton Oswalt, and Judah Friedlander auditioned for Dwight Schrute. Bob Odenkirk of “Better Call Saul” auditioned for Michael Scott. Eric Stonestreet auditioned for Kevin Malone. Kathryn Hahn auditioned for Pam Beesly.
Greg Daniels created “The Office” and was a co-creator of the spinoff “Parks and Recreation” with Michael Schur. Scott’s character, Ben Wyatt, was introduced in the second season of the political comedy.
“Hearing about this Office spinoff for a while, and I think it was a year before I actually auditioned that I told my agent that I wanted to be part of it,” said in Jim O’Heir’s book “Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
He first auditioned for Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider), who wasn’t brought back after season 1. Daniels created the awkward state auditor and finally cast Scott.
Scott’s journey is a good lesson to keep trying, and maybe the right opportunity will find you. It’s also apparently a lesson on how to improve in acting classes. Many funny actors auditioned for the long-running comedy that made people in the room laugh, but weren’t cast for the show.
