Quinton Aaron starred in the beloved 2009 film, “The Blind Side,” alongside Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, and Jae Head. In January, fans were heartbroken to learn that he suffered from a spinal stroke and was temporarily placed on life support, but now the actor has shared a positive health update.
Quinton Aaron Shares Positive Health Update
In an interview with Us Weekly, published on Wednesday, August 19, Aaron addressed his health, telling the publication he is incredibly optimistic and he believes he will walk again. “It’s a miracle I’m still here,” he said. “My purpose moving forward is to take advantage of the second chance I’ve been given.”
Aaron is making the most of his time, and already has many projects lined up. “I’m excited to still be here, and to tell my story,” he shared.
Fans feared the worst when he was hospitalized in January. Speaking of that time, the actor said, “The ambulance came, and they had to pick me up and put me on the stretcher. I couldn’t do anything to support my own weight. I was completely paralyzed from the waist down.”
As for his progress now, he explains that he can feel when people touch his legs, but he can’t “register pain.” That hasn’t stopped him from believing he will walk one day again. “One night I was lying there watching a movie, and I jumped at [something on] the TV, and my leg moved. I sent a video to [my rep], and she started crying. I was like, ‘I told you, I’m gonna walk again,’” he said.
Quinton Aaron Addresses His Feelings About His Ex-Wife
In his interview, Aaron detailed all the positive things in his life and how he was regaining his strength and getting parts of his old self back. “[I’m] getting my voice back, which is cool,” he said. “I didn’t sound like myself before. My right hand has been numb and tingly the whole time. Some days it feels weak and stiff. I’m getting some strength back too [though], doing my exercises.”
He explained that he was working hard to regain his upper body strength, which had “gone away” after his health struggles. “I have to be able to support my weight, you know, by scooting out of bed into a wheelchair, or out of the wheelchair back in bed,” he said.
Aaron has a loving family to rally around him, but what has happened between him and his wife? During his hospitalization, Aaron learned details about his wife that changed their relationship forever. He married Margarita DeLeon in December 2024 but discovered in January 2026 that she was still legally married to her previous husband. The actor told Us Weekly that he has not spoken to DeLeon since his stroke.
Despite their relationship ending, Aaron did not speak negatively about DeLeon. He says he has forgiven her, adding, “I didn’t want to hold on to the anger and have it slow down my process of healing. I really do wish her well. I hope she gets the help she needs.”
