Eva Longoria’s son has discovered one of her most famous characters, but she is not ready for him to watch the show that made Gabrielle Solis a television icon.
The actress revealed that 8-year-old Santiago has become “obsessed” with online memes featuring her “Desperate Housewives” character. Although the clips have left him curious about the hit ABC series, Eva has already made her position clear.
When Santiago asked when he would be allowed to watch it, his mother offered a firm and funny answer: “Never.”
Santiago Discovered Gabrielle Solis Through YouTube
Eva opened up about her son’s newfound interest while participating in People’s “One Last Thing” feature.
When asked about the last time she watched “Desperate Housewives,” the 51-year-old actress explained that Santiago’s YouTube habits have unexpectedly brought Gabrielle Solis back into her life.
“So lately I’ve been seeing a lot just because of him discovering it,” Eva said. “He asks, ‘Mom, when can I watch it?’ And I’m like, ‘Never.’”
While “never” may ultimately turn into “when you’re older,” the series’ adult storylines make Eva’s current response understandable.
“Desperate Housewives” aired for eight seasons between 2004 and 2012. Eva starred as former model Gabrielle Solis, whose dramatic marriage, personal secrets and complicated friendships made her one of the show’s most memorable residents of Wisteria Lane.
Eva Longoria Recalled Meeting Tom Cruise
Santiago’s meme obsession was not the only memorable moment Eva discussed.
The actress also revealed that Tom Cruise was the last celebrity to leave her feeling starstruck. The two attended David Beckham’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, where Eva found herself impressed by Cruise despite having known him for years.
“He still takes my breath away,” she admitted. “He’s just such a big movie star. I’ve known him forever, but to me he’s still Tom Cruise.”
Eva has been close friends with David and Victoria Beckham for years. Victoria is also Santiago’s godmother.
A Cannes Wardrobe Mishap Left Her Dress Backward
Eva also reflected on one of her most unforgettable wardrobe malfunctions.
The actress explained that her gown failed to arrive in time for an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, forcing her to select another dress at the last minute. She had already stepped onto the red carpet when her stylist noticed something was wrong.
“You have it on backward,” the stylist told her.
Although the mistake could have become a fashion disaster, Eva still managed to complete the appearance before learning how the dress was intended to be worn.
She Is Planning a Major Surprise for Santiago
Eva may not allow Santiago to visit Wisteria Lane yet, but she is preparing to earn some serious “mom points” by taking him to see Bruno Mars.
“As soon as he saw Bruno was touring, he was like, ‘No way, oh my God! We gotta find a date to go,’ and immediately got online,” she recalled.
Between her son’s Gabrielle Solis memes, an upcoming Bruno Mars concert and romantic dinners with her husband, Eva appears to be enjoying a full family life—even if “Desperate Housewives” remains strictly off-limits for now.
